Is showing affection to your dog through biting/rough love normal?

I love my boyfriend's dog, and I think he is so damn cute, but that is the problem! I start out petting him and hugging him and end up biting and playing really rough because I just get the urge to glomp him in every way possible. I don't hurt him ever, but I think he is starting to be a little scared of me. It takes every cell in my body to resist biting him until he yelps and throwing him out the window! I don't know what to do or how to cope, please help?

Well, sometimes I have the urge to throw my dog in the air b/c she's so cute, and I do bite her fur but never enough to hurt her. I think this is normal you would probably never actually hurt him and if he ever did squeal you'd probably feel really bad and never do it again. I also do play rough with my dog. I'll start a fight and we'll start throwing "punches" ;)

However, my dog doesn't mind. She's feisty and isn't afraid of me. haha.

Yeah... I used to have an awesome dog. And when I showed him how much I cared for his cuteness id put him in a choke hold and yell, "liberate yourself from my vice like grip!" Hed eventually free himself and bite me. Man, I loved that dog.

  • My dog wont fall asleep at night unless I hold him like a teddy bear.

Which wouldnt be so bad except he is an 85 lb pit bull.

I'm not sure about why, but animals themselves play rough like this-through biting, tackling, etc with each other.. I do this all the time with my dog, I honestly think it's just that we are connecting to the animals on a more primal level! It's good for bonding, just as long as it's play and not aggressive. Do you also grit your teeth when you see something really cute? haha I do xD

I know how you feel. I do this to my own dog, actually. Sometimes I get a little carried away and she softly cries, so I stop after that. I'd never try to hurt her honestly. For me, it's like... playing.

Of course it's normal! Nothing says I love you like some good ol' fashion animal abuse!

Dude, you should totally not feel bad. Wanting to inflict pain on an animal is, like, totally normal if you don't draw blood. I mean, fantasy doesn't hurt anybody..right?
