Is talking to wooden virgin mary normal?

Since almost two years ago my mom bought 4 feet tall wooden statue of Virgin Mary for her dining room and since then she talks to the statue like it's a real person. First I thought she was just referring to it but then later on when I would talk on the phone with her and she would start laughing, when I asked what's funny she replied "Something Mary said." Then later on I noticed she has real long conversations with it where statue obviously replies in her head. I even talked to the priest and he said that it was perfectly normal, since God obviously sometimes channels trough statues and that people in church frequently talk to statues of gods and saints. But I don't think he understands or maybe other people are really like that?

It sounds like she is lonely and likes talking to it as a real person.

If she is functioning normally then treat it as an eccentricity.

Normal to talk to a statue, not normal your mum thinks the statue has the ability to respond to her in her head or make jokes.

She sounds delusional, maybe have a conversation with her and suggest a therapist.

Millions of people pray to mythological Gods and many think they answer. Society thinks that's normal. I'd say your Mum is about as normal as it gets in the current scheme of things.

Does she smell roses when she's talking to the statue?

I don't talk to statues though.

This shows how psychotic behavior is condoned and encouraged by many religions. Especially paganesque religions like Catholicism. These religions will destroy your mental health.

It is better to be Atheist and be mentally healthy than to become a sicko for Jesus.
