Spelling mistakes happen, but some words/letters are missing completely or just plain wrong in some of the posts here. This is not to criticise, but is it normal?

It's normal for the internet. Young people are learning this pathetic internet vocabulary before they learn to speak proper English.
Everyone needs to calm the fuck down and read the god damn question. He says he understands that people misspell words but that sometimes words/letters are missing completely. There's no excuse for that. English is my second language and I write and speak it better than most of the people I've met in this country.
What does it mean when an immigrant speaks this language better than you? Sad...just sad.
To the people who refuse to spell correctly: please stop f**king up our language.
Nasty unkind prejudice bigots' I am dyslexic and even with spell check I cant see some words. So are you sayin I cant write anything on this site. My complex already encumbers my life without nasty unkind people like you all in you're oh so perfect grammatical worlds

I have to disagree Shrunk, this is a trend that has been years in the making.
Without actually practicing good grammar, even when we may feel it is not needed, just teaches you bad grammar.
Each year the vocabulary and grammar skills of our youth diminish. Do I think we can get by without it? Yes. Do I think we should? No.
it's the internet not english class, we know how to spell and all that, but we don't need to waste the time on something insignificant as this, as long as u can figure it out what should it matter
A lot of the people who frequent this site have either a lower level of education or English is not their first language. It is intolerant and elitist to expect everyone, all of the time, to use proper grammar and punctuation.
It appears to be normal, as it does for life in general. Spelling or grammar is no longer the marque of the superior. Nor should it be. Everyone is allowed a voice, no matter how much they may mangle the language they use to express that voice.
People need to be able to speak in the way that means most to them. I would hate for someone to tell me I couldn't use words any more. Wouldn't you?
A reader for whom English is a second language can find a word in a dictionary only if the spelling is standard. It is very insular to think that free expression is more important than adherence to orthographic rules. English is not our private domain, it belongs to the world.It's like a mathematics teacher saying, "It doesn't matter if the numbers are wrong as long as it's nearly right."

the writer of this questionnaire has a point. i mean, is it even really that hard to spell things correctly? i think not. stop being lazy and spell the word out.
