There is a video online of a girl killing 6 puppies by throwing them into a river. I showed this to my stepsister, and not only didn't she get upset, but she said "Actually, it appears that those dogs are from the same litter. Meaning that she was just getting rid of some dogs that she didn't want to keep. People kill their dogs all the time if they can't keep them. It is actually pretty normal."

Is this even remotely normal thinking, cuz I know people don't throw puppies into rivers on a daily basis.

    Well she was being a realist. It does happen over the entire world.

    It was strange for her to have no sympathy..just because it happens doesnt mean you shouldnt feel some angst for the helpless puppies.

    its common and very sad at the same time. its sad because these puppies have to suffer because their owners arent responsible and they dont get their pet desexed. instead they should take those animals to shelters so at least they could get a chance of finding homes and if not then they put the animals down in a humane way instead of drowning them.

      But this happened in Bosnia, so there may not have been a shelter to take them to or to get a female dog spayed. Also, sometimes female dogs reject their young. I'm not saying it's right, but you have to take into consideration where things happen and that the customs in other countries are different. I mean, they eat dogs in Oriental countries, but it's not right to condemn people in other countries just because they are not like us.

    I saw that video. It diffidently has some people really upset. Yea it sucks, but it also does happen a lot. The biggest thing that bothered me about the video was how easy it was for her to do such a thing and how awful those last minutes were for the little pups.

    In some countries, people eat dogs. Personally I think it's wrong, but it'd the way they were raised, culturally speaking.

    Mayfair - of course they have shelters and vets to get their dogs desexed. my boss is bosnian and he just spent 2 months there. also if people didnt let their dogs roam the streets like hookers, then they wouldnt get pregnant. its a pretty simple solution if you think about it.

    Throwing puppies away is very common and I'm sure that somewhere in the world, not a day passes that someone doesn't throw puppies into a river. The puppies in the video don't look like their eyes are even open so the mother dog could have rejected them, or she could have died. Like someone else said, drowning them would be more humane than letting them starve. Not everywhere in the world has animal pounds and shelters.

    People often get rid of unwanted puppies by drowning them or just throwing them out in the trash. My grandmother had a dog that had puppies and the mother dog wouldn't have anything to do with them (mother dogs do that sometimes) and my grandmother drowned them in a washtub. She said that was more humane than letting them starve to death.
