Is this an acceptable relationship?

Recently A then friend of mine that was 17 said that she would like to date me. I'm 20 myself so I was a bit apprehensive about it, but I said yes because of the fact that I figured a 3-year age gap
Would be acceptable if dating a 17 year old if it's the 17-year-old's choice.

No 11
Yes 21

Depends on the government or state I would look over the laws before taking the risk at being a felon.

Dating is fine just don't do more if the age of consent where you live is 18 because you can get into trouble. I think 17 and 20 isn't a huge deal but anymore than that it would be. Like if you were 21+ that's a bit different mindsets and maturity levels.

Yes ffs who fucking cares???? If 2 people like each other, they can be together no matter what it's not up to anyone else.

It just aint worth it, man; it could potentially ruin your life. Just wait a year or move on.

No. No. No. No. No. In 5 years you'll realize how much different you were at 17 and 20. This website is full of creeps, I wouldn't trust the annoyomous answers on this, check with the cops. There are pleeeeenty of other 20 year olds, no luck with them??

You both should just wait until you're more mature. It might feel patronising for her right now, but soon you will understand how awkward it was that you were dating when she was 17. Not only is it difficult to accept for yourselves, but also it's awkward when telling others.

I'd say this has less to do with laws and more to do with ethics, because the law is not always ethical depending on where you're located. A 3-year age gap is also not universal. Are you in college? She's still in high school. Life experiences like these also reduce your compatibility at the moment.

A 40 year old dating a 43 year old? Totally acceptable. When you're both still developing your mental maturity, however... There's nothing wrong with being friends, but a relationship might just not be in the cards right now.

I had a crush on a women 12 years older then me since I was a young teen. I watched her date younger 18-19 year olds when I was 15 and she wad 27. I have known her since I was 5 but she disappeared when I was 6 or 7 until I was 13 she had gotten married and divorced. She would take me out to get food and other stuff when I turned 18 each time we would go to do something and she was single I would tell myself ok today you will ask her out well it happened when I was 20 and we have been together for 11 years now so age don't matter as long as it is consent where you are located I know I would have been ready for a relationship with her when I was 15 or 16 no problem.

How long until she's 18? I'd say just wait until then.

Along as you don't have sex there is no problem. Nobody should be having sex before marriage anyway. I don't like it either bit it's not my rule.
