Is this normal to think?

Is it normal to not understand what religious people believe? All evidence seems to point that the brain provides our consciousness and the soul doesn't exist. My question is why do these people believe in such stories without proof? What probably bugs me the most is this: when you talk to a religious person and ask how they justify their beliefs with proof and then they go off on some anecdote from their holy book. Also when they genuinely don't understand their lack of logic. Does anyone else think about this? Also please don't start saying crap like who knows and don't be so closed minded....

I can understand the appeal of religion. Not many people want to accept the fact that one day we will all die and then that's it, it's nicer to believe in an after life where your "soul" is immortal. Also, a lot of things are a mystery, which leads to people trying to figure out what it is, how are we here, what happens when we die? ect...

Sometimes people's theories are illogical, and they can't all be right. But if it gives them comfort and makes them act in a good way, then I'm glad that they have that in their lives. I wish I did.

What baffles me is why people want to remain immortal. In your after life, what would you spend the rest of your entire life doing in repetition? I can't even stand doing a certain activity throughout for 1 month straight, let alone forever.

It does seem a bit boring, just the thought of no longer living scares me a bit.
