Is this stupid of me?

I really want to be a police officer. This is seriously the only thing in the world that I can see myself doing with my life. Right now a lot of police stations are hiring but ill have to wait for 9 months. I pretty sure I am in decent enough shape to pass the academy though, I also love psychology. I been studying psychology and criminals since I was a child to the disapproval of everyone who thought wanting to learn psychology as a child was a bad sign. I want to help people and I always followed the law even though I been poor for many years. I could join the military and join in 3 years but I dont know if they will still be hiring at that time. There is not a lot of entry level jobs that are easy to obtain right now, but I know that if you pass the police academy you automatically go up to middle class wages. If I become a cop ill also finally be able to adopt a child which I wanted to since 18 and I finally old enough to join the academy.

    Who wouldn't want to be a cop in the US? You get to wear a cool uniform with a fancy belt with all kinds of neat things on it. You get to drive around in a super hot car with a gaudy paint job and all kinds of flashing lights on it. It even has a radio and a real neat computer terminal in it. And best of all, you get to murder unarmed black children, Latinos of all ages and sexes, muslims (if you say they are terrorists), poor jews (if you can find any) with no repercussions at all. Never mind all that confiscated drug money that somehow doesn't make it to the evidence lock up, but into your pockets instead, right?
    Who wouldn't want to be a cop in the USA today?

      this is why the cops are so rough on white people, because of amateur black comedians on BET channel repeating the same corny old jokes from the 1960s and people hearing it over and over again untill they actually believe it. if a cop was showing ANY obvious racism at all, he'd lose his job and probably be all over the news. thanks for trying to stir up a race war...

    Wait... There aren't always openings for cops and solders? That seems like one of the things you can't get enough of.... Like nurses, or firemen.

    You have to wait 9 months? Are you a woman, by any chance? I'm asking as a serious question, since you didn't directly say so in the post.

    You keep emphasizing psychology, so it sounds like you actually want to be an investigator. I'm not sure if that and normal police officer are the same thing.

      To be an investigator you must be a cop for five years. That is how it works. Basically anything related to the police field, you have to be a cop first. Also yes it takes 9-12 months depending on the department. The first 6 months is processing. Then the Academy is like 3-6 months long.

        I see! Thanks, I'm not in that field so I don't know how that stuff works. You seem to at least know what you're talking about, so I don't think you're being stupid. Just be safe out there. Adopting a kid is a big responsibility.
