Issues with flickr, iin?

A few weeks ago ago, I tried to create a Flickr account. It said that I had to create a "Yahoo ID" so, I filled out the registration on the Flickr site. I put in my information and I clicked create an account.

Beforehand, I had watched a tutorial on this and in the video, after the lady had put in her information and clicked the button, she was directed to a page where she picked out her username. Then, it took her to her Profile Page. However, when I clicked the button it took me to Yahoo's main page. I was slightly confused so I when back to flickr and tried to sign in.
It wouldn't let me and asked if I was trying to "Start an account" and that what I was typing in wasn't an "account"! I was baffled and I tried a few more times, than I tried to "login in" in the main site, but it still didn't work!

I don't know what I did wrong. All of the information I typed in was accurate. There are only two places that cause me to pause and think. 1. When It came to my name instead of sticking the full name, I put in my pen name, which is an abbreviation and my profession name. I even stuck in the dot after the first initial. 2. My main email with Gmail. On the part about a Yahoo ID I stuck in my typical email, but instead of putting "@gmail.com" I stuck in "@yahoo.com".

So, could these have been why signing up failed or could it have been something else? I'm I the only who had this happen to them? This whole situation has made me very stressed out and I hate to think that I put in all of that information for nothing... IIN?
