The alphabet goes a, bee, cee, dee, ee, eff, gee, etc. so why have the letter z be pronounced as zed instead of zee? Or why not have the other letters be bed, ced, ded, ed, eff, ged, etc.?
"you spell it with a zee"
"Oh like C?
"No, I mean ZEE, last letter of the alphabet"
Saying Zed is just more clear
Is it though? C requires your mouth to be slightly ajar. Z needs a closed jaw to be pronounced properly.
Zed doesnt even make it obvious how its pronounced in a word. English of course is terrible about this on the onset. If you learn Z as Z you can look zigzag and understand the pronunciation better than if you came at the word from the perspective of (zed)ig(zed)ag
