It drives me nuts when people say "good" instead of "well?"

Am I a snob because I like to use "well" as an adverb (because it's correct) and I like other people to also?
For example, I far prefer, "it's going well" to "it's going good." I tend to really like and appreciate people who use the word correctly, and I also assume they're more intelligent. Not that I'm super judgemental of people who say "good," I just wish they didn't.

If someone says they're doing good, I respond with "are you saving lives?"

    I might be an asshole . . . .

Oscar Wilde was an asshole but I found him witty anyway.

I use the word correctly but I can't see how it's such a big deal. I'm sure you also use slang that's not in the Dictionary..

I agree with you. Spiderman does good, you are doing well. It's all about proper grammar.

    How are you?

    Guuuud.

    No. Say well. Wweeeeelllll.

Good is an adjective. And how are you DOING? Well. Well is an adverb which describes doing.

That's the thing...it's good to be able to have the freedom to express ourselves...we shouldn't put rules on so many things in life...

To me, incorrect use of "well" just expresses poor education.

Bad news for you folks. Both "good" and "well" can be used as either adjective or adverb, look them up.

They certainly SOUND more correct in specific instances, but you're looking down on people when your own understanding is wrong.

Note: The only reason I know this myself is that it bugged me so much that I looked it up some years ago (and just verified again).

    Cheers

I have to comment because, though I generally try to use all the proper words, I purposely say "Im good" just because I think "Im well" sounds pretentious.
I hate when people generally mispronounce words though..."EX-cape" and "EX'presso" just kill me. And my husband says "piture" instead of "picture".
I get you even though I say 'Im good".

Yeah, I totally get it. I feel pretty pretentious when I say "I'm well," but I LOVE it when people say it to me.

As Weird Al recently pointed out, "doing good" is correct, it just means something different. See: "Word Crimes"

I know, right? "Doing good" is correct, if you're giving sandwiches to starving children.
