Itn for americans(incl.its alliance) to think they are the center ?

Is it normal that they think they are the world's center?

I feel quite a number of Americans have this thought.

It's important to make the distinction between those who do think this way and those who don't as opposed to sweeping statements which implicate everyone. To be fair to the OP, he/she does qualify his/her view in this regard.

I'm sure most people are proud of their nationality and that pride will certainly swell into a sense of superiority for many, no matter how high, or low, in the global pecking order their particular country is perceived to be by the rest of the world.

It's reasonable to assume that, given its status and influence in so many areas of human endeavour, there will be many Americans who feel justified in having a distinct sense of superiority and I see nothing much wrong with that (as a Brit, there's no bias here, one way or the other).

The only time it can become a problem is when it leads to a kind of gung-ho brashness which I think, it's fair to say, tends not to be the most endearing quality to have.

But, as we all know, there aren't that many brash Americans around - right, guys?

Mostly, Americans are proud that their immigration, taxation, and graduate schools attract all the world's geniuses to come to work here. These brains advance world technology, and American based corporate giants while dumb ass riff-raff drink beer and wave flags.

I've been to many places in the world and everywhere you go ppl think of there home country as the best this isn't some kind of unique american problem. The assertion here is that americans think there better than others but questions like this show that non americans think this as well.
