that situation is only funny because it's ironic.... not becuase becuase he's disabled.

hell yeah its normal, of coarse as mentioned because of the irony that is. i laughed and i dont feel bad. i have been paralized for seven years using a wheelchair and i find myself laughing at all sorts of things of such matter

I'm a one-legged person and I agree. Some things that aren't really funny are actually funny in a simple way.

I laugh at ethnic people being stereotypical or horribly retarded/disfigured people or other things that people aren't supposed to laugh at.

People laugh at dumb shit I do all the time, anyway. Sometimes I get drunk and throw my prosthetic leg across a room and try to get up to go get it and faceplant. That kinda shit.

I've come to the conclusion that no matter where you go or what you do someone is secretly laughing at you.

We're all hilarious to someone, the crippled and/or severely retarded aren't any different.

Most people feel sorry for cripples I guess. But it has alot to do with what situation you're in.
Like if you're just walking down the street with a friend and suddenly there's someone walking past you looking like a pirate with his pegleg and god knows what. Would you say; "aww, poor guy."

Oh my... Well, I have a story...

At my old high school, the smoking area was across the street, so every day at lunch I'd go out for one with my mates.

There has always been a class for the "special" kids who had a disability like Downs syndrome.

Well this one EXTREMELY overweight, short downs girl waddled out of the school to sit at a bench and eat her lunch with the rest of the class.

I was just standing across the street, chatting and looking at all the people walking around the grounds when all of a sudden, this downs girl, tripped and fell on the bench with the rest of the "special" kids. They all started screaming and pushing each other, throwing food, crying etc...

I laughed so hard I cried, it was the funniest thins is ever saw during my time at high school...

I know, I'm a horrible person.

But it was just so funny, picture it like this:

A bunch of sobbing, obese, Mini-me's all rolling on top of each other while making "urwangghhaaaahhhg" sounds...

I don't normally laugh at handicapped people, but I couldn't help it. It was uncontrollable. It was the funniest thing I think I've ever seen in my entire life.

It must have been scary for all the downs kids, not knowing what's going on and having some 300lb, wailing girl, rolling on top of you and your lunch.

I think disabled people should be euthanized.

my friend has the same problem, she has to avoid being around mentally challenged people because she will laugh hysterically despite the fact that she feels terrible about it. i think its a nervous thing, people laugh when they're nervous.

some criples are funny admitedly but some like you said have been through such horrible experiances but hayho i once saw a criple licking a frozen pizza in the freezer at the store and the shop clerk was like are you gunna bye that and the criple drops it and says honk honk and runs off i lol'd for like a week

I work with disabled people and know the struggles and frustrations and the loneliness they go through so no but in that incident you described I'd have a smile come to my face like I think most people would. This wouldn't be because of their disability but if I saw a dog tottering along with them 3 legs as well.....then of course!

I laugh at bad things too. I mean, I know I'm not supposed to, but I just do. As long as you aren't outwardly mean to the person I'd say its normal.

OK, a one-legged man with a 3-legged dog has probably already noticed that this has some potential to be pretty funny, and he may even have had it him to laugh at himself already. People with good character, disabled or not, have the ability to laugh at themselves every now and then. But still...that is a very unique scenario. You wouldn't just laugh at a deformed person for the hell of it, would you? That's just plain cold...

My sister used to laugh at them, anywhere she saw one. its sad. and harsh.

well I agree, I 'seems' funny, a guy with one leg who happens to have a dog with 3 legs, but in general its cruel and sad.

I would think not, that would show lack of passion, however, I believe you were laughing at the ironic situation. A crippled man, whom has a crippled dog, as you see, dogs are seen as "athletic". Hope you don't make fun of war veterans... those guys are tough...

It's not that you find all people who are crippled hilarious (at least, I don't think you do) - it's more that you're laughing at that particular thing.

As long as you don't let them hear you, you don't do it too often and you feel guilty about it. Some people laugh at disabled people because they feel uncomfortable to see them. It's the same reason people laugh hysterically when they are in a dangerous situation.

This happened to me years ago but i was also taking other medication at the time so i think it had something to do with it as well.

Ehh I see a lot of people on this thread think it is rude etc...It is rude in a way, but not really. I would probably laugh too. I am the same way. It does not make me an evil guy. I just think it looks funny. Now if I were to go up to the one-legged guy and laugh in his face and call him names like "peg leg"..now that's rude and uncalled for.

So as long as you're not taking it further like telling the guy he's a cripple and laughing directly at him, there is really no problem in chuckling a bit.
