Let's keep it civil

So it looks like Roe is going to be overturned. Everything I was watching last night was claiming that the Repubs were going to lose the women vote for a decade and were going to regret this. Blah blah blah. Thoughts? I personally am pro life but am interested to see what the Is it normal crew thinks.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

I think this is WAY MORE about declining birth rate. There’s barely any kids to adopt. There won’t be any poor shits to work the factories in years to come. EAT THE RICH.

I'm gonna be looking to adopt in 4 or 5 years. This is timely to open up the selection on perfectly healthy babies.

Well in 4 or so years the babies and toddlers that weren't aborted will be looking for more homes. A home that I hope that I can have for one.

Adopting kids is expensive, especially if you want one of your own race and (hopefully) without health defects.

American democrats have used the “we will protect abortion rights!” line for too many years in order to rally votes and campaign donations. They had years to pass legislation and didn’t.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg held onto her spot out of selfishness and sabotaged Americans.

I hope this wakes up Democrats to the fact that no, the Democratic Party does not have your interests at heart. At least the Republicans are honest about how corrupt and evil Republicans are. It is time for a 3rd party revolution in the US.

Civility is submission. American “liberal feminist” women need to trade in those stupid pink p*ssy hats and pick up a brick and a gun if they want to get anything done.
And the coward men thinking they can sit this one out are fools. Go protect the rights of your mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, and fellow Americans.

American Republicans only worried about the “leak” are telling on themselves that they have no problem supporting secretive decisions made by the ruling class that go against what the vast majority of Americans want. It’s unpatriotic.

A mild annoyance at worst. Weirdguy believes what he wants, I can input my disagreements but that's about as far as I can really go with anyone.

We are close enough in party to be friendly because we agree with the majority of positions, I just have a more libertarian scope.

Thus I dont really care about anyone's particular inclinations as long as it doesnt effect me or will effect me in the future.
That's why I disagree with a lot of democratic positions and especially progressive positions most of those profoundly effect me and my future.

“As long as it doesn’t effect me or will effect me in the future”
That’s the problem with libertarians. They’ve no humanity and all the selfishness. They’re proud bystanders and criticize heroes for infringing on the “individual rights” of a villain.

Your refusal to find the bravery and compassion it takes to stand up for those who either can’t for themselves, or are standing against a overpowered force, is complicit to atrocities. Being good yourself is never enough. Never enough.

That’s why WeirdGuy’s constant racist comments, constant sexist comments, fantasies about abusing women, etc. is seen as a “mild annoyance at worst” to you.
I can’t believe you let his paragraph-long fantasy comment about how he wanted to be a “Russian soldier in Ukraine who discovers soldiers r*ping a Ukrainian woman” and then “take her to the next room and fuck her” himself, slide. You didn’t say shit about it. I couldn’t say anything since he blocked me. But he likes you alright. I guess that’s that “unite the right” solidarity I keep hearing about.

What do you want me to do? Shun him? Weirdguy is also in the profession that I'm currently breaking into. Shunning him wont change his mind. By nudging him in the correct direction long enough it might work. Throwing him out on the proverbial curb wont solve either problem with his comments which I will admit are a bit alarming but sometimes it's hard to tell if that's what they actually belive or they have a fucked up sort of humor.

Either way yes libertarianism is a fundamentally selfish ideology but that's only because sometimes that's all you can do if your own goverment is that incompetent. People dont want me in their lives? I leave. They want me to get out of my house? Come get me. Dont tread on me I wont tread on you.

Almost half of women are pro life and reversing the decision only sends it back to the states. So abortion stays legal in all blue states. Hopefully this discourages idiots from moving to TN as it will surely be banned as soon as possible when it gets overturned.

It probably will hurt conservatives for the mid term but I find it more troubling than anything that this was leaked only to intimidate the courts to make a decisions.

The right uses violent rhetoric all day long.
I’ve seen your marches, the rifles and flags waving, I’ve seen the “come take it” “2nd amendment” gun waving Republicans in Trump rally videos. Whatever. I support gun ownership by the people. And I support it so the people have a fighting chance. Those making decisions in the opposite direction of what the people want should feel scared.

Abortions are often pushed on a woman by the male involved who doesn’t want the baby. You will see a spike in men killing the women they get pregnant. You will see a spike in deaths by botched backyard abortions. And you will see a spike in deaths of pregnant women who were too unhealthy to carry a pregnancy to term but were forced to.

How is this not imposed violence by the ruling class ?

Not to mention how horribly rampant drug abuse is for your nation. The amount of drug addicted and drug effected babies being born will be too much for an already overwhelmed child welfare system to handle (which by the way, some people deem “useless government spending” and want to cut funding for). Babies born into abusive households, babies born into poverty, born with disabilities that would require more welfare spending, born unwanted.

And this is absolutely class warfare at the same time. The rich will still receive professionally sourced abortions no matter the law. It is just more oppression on the working class.

I agree. The federal goverment shouldnt have this much control over what individual states do. They should be more concerned with foreign policy as that's more in line with their intended purpose.

It's about the united STATES of america. States should hold more power. Rvw doesnt change abortion for states that accept it. All it does is give back the freedom of states to legislate on the problems they want to solve. Dont like it? You are free to move to another state.

You'd think everyone would be happy with that. If you like blue policies you can live in a blue state. But democrats like to enforce their values federally so you are forced to do what they want. Its not good enough for your state to be ran how your people want it to be run. Your state must conform to their will so they can move in to your area

Not up to you or the state, until the baby comes out its status is private or unknown, or known only to the people the woman discloses it to. Do fat chicks have more rights because you can't tell if they're pregnant?. Or women who stay indoors for 9 months?

Its private until the woman seeks out the practices of a licensed doctor to murder the baby after 15 weeks or whatever cutoff the state imposes.

      How?

Medical reasons for abortions arent even abortions. The baby dieing is the side effect of the correction not the main purpose.

Republicans have had this opinion for decades cant say I'm surprised by this outcome. It simply lets states decide instead of the federal goverment. 80% of the population doesnt agree with 100% any the time abortions. Some restrictions is being equated to being pro life than pro choice now. Only because the pro choice crowd is morphing into pro abortion crowds.

Yes they are. The media and religious rights have changed the way public views the concept of an abortion. You have spontaneous abortions and medical abortions. All miscarriages are some type of an abortion. And many women have those without even knowing they were pregnant. Sometimes the body is more efficient at weeding out a poorly fertilized egg than others. But it still doesn't change the fact that it's not really the business of others to intervene on behalf of a potential life they don't care to acknowledge at any other point in time. Do these people vote for universal health care? Having a baby is expensive. And saying that they should have considered that before having sex is really not being very considerate of life. It's a shame people assume what they want about the mother without knowing the facts. Because those facts don't matter to them. As long as they feel morally superior. They do not care about the mother. They deem her a selfish whore/baby killer because she considered ending her pregnancy. They didn't consider anything other then their own personal feelings on an issue that is still none of their business.

The problem with restrictions is that it forces a black and white answer to a question that will never be anything but complicated. Sure some people will abuse it. But that's true of literally everything. And again, it's ironic that those who critisize regulation the most are the first to regulate a woman's body.

You don’t get to dismiss the Alt Right violence as “stupidity” and “one day” and brush it aside and act as if it isn’t the responsibility of your party - yet hold every Leftist responsible for what their party has done. You are responsible for the fascists within your party. I’m not highly aware of details on American riots. But again I do not believe all forms of aggression — especially against oppressive systems — are inherently evil. From my understanding “Antifa” literally means Anti-Fascist. Good.

I’m a Russian citizen and always have been and always will be. The vast majority of civil unrest against the government and ruling parties in Russia is done by leftists, specifically the Communist Party which makes up a quarter of the Russian population. We will not be discussing my country, it has nothing to do with the topic.

American division propaganda has made both parties obsessed with social divides. When Americans hear “oppression” they only associate it to racism, sexism, homophobia, or other social bigotries. I believe this is what you are doing. This is not the only form of oppression. A white Christian working class straight man is also subject to economic and corporate oppression by the ruling class. Which is why class unity about workers is so incredibly important. And why bigotry is so incredibly dangerous and self sabotaging

“If the Right were able to live with the fact that people were killing babies without taking up arms to threaten and kill people into submission to outlaw abortion then the Left can certainly do the same” this is an entirely unviable argument. This is no where near a “fact” that people are “killing babies”. This is not a factual basis and you can not present it as such. An argument can not be built on the false pretense of a “fact”.

What is a -fact- is that outlawing abortion does not stop abortions. It only stops safe abortion done by medical professionals in a protected environment. It is a fact that pregnancies often times kill mothers. It is a fact that 90% of American abortions are done in the 1st trimester. And above everything, it is a fact that the US Supreme Court is acting in totalitarianism against the interest of Americans. Why doesn’t this bother you ??? Or is totalitarianism okay as long as it is Right wing authority ?

It is 100% a religious issue.

Legislation of this much invasivity belongs on the national level. Voters from large agricultural states protect farmers in large industrial states with federal balancing. I only know so much about the US. Unity is necessary to protect the rights of those in otherwise heavily biased states. Leftists in majorly Leftist states protect the rights of Leftists in majorly Rightist states and vice versa.

The Right uses intimidation tactics very very often. The far right relies on them. The American Right has had many violent protests and has sorta “claimed” the gun-toting macho persona.
Again, I am not anti gun. Nor am I anti aggression //against the ruling class and those who uphold oppression//

There’s a difference between violence against oppressors and violence against the oppressed. Do you think the British were going to let you vote against them ? Do you think the Haitian slaves should’ve just voted for freedom ? Should women just have voted for the right to vote ?

Again I’ve heard it gives power to the states. My point is that a very minuscule percentage of the US population agrees with overturning Roe v Wade. The Supreme Court, which the US citizens have no say in, is making a - radical - private decision that is against the desires of the people. It is entirely anti-democratic

The Right can believe what it wishes. But again it is very divided between Republicans. Half of Republicans disagree with the overturn of Roe v Wade. But imposing a - Religion based - belief into the legislative system is in direct violation of the United States stance on the separation of Church and State. Judaism and even Islam allow for abortion. Why must even religious Jews, and Muslims, and anyone nonChristian, adhere to Christian law ? Where is the freedom of Religion ?

I believe it is a good frame to work with. You’ve your ruling class imposing laws that directly violate freedoms, while at the same time they live above the law. You watch your politicians commit crimes all day long. You watch the wealthy bail themselves out of criminal justice with masses of wealth all the time. The plutocracy of capitalist societies is in direct infringement of freedoms of laborers.

Women support pro life too. I dont get why is assumed that women are solely pro choice. Plus whether or not babies being killed or not isnt a biological sex issue. It's a social issue that men can perfectly understand the upside and downsides to supporting.

I just like reasonable expectations for abortion. Safe, legal and rare. Now we got celebrities cherishing the fact they got an abortion and celebrating it. Which is abhorrent. "I killed my child so I got put in a favorable role yay me!" Like holy shit how can that not be psychotic to regular people?

At this point my values are closer to the texas point of view than the New York state of view.

I used to be pro choice completely... until an abortion doctor explained the procedure for 2nd and 3rd trimester abortions and that sickened me to the point of changing my stance.
