both cats and dogs are cool but personally i prefer cats over dogs. i like how cats are typically much more hygienic in nature (how many times have you heard a cat eating it's own poop, eating trash, rolling in poop/rotten things compared to how commonly dogs are known for doing those things. as well as having to bath dogs more often than cats, especially when they get that stinky dog smell after a while.)
i also generally prefer cats personalities over dogs. cats seem more intelligent, free-thinking and independent compared to dogs who most act extremely clingy and dependent on their owners, like it doesn't even have a mind of it's own or capable of thinking for itself. i also dislike how pushy a lot can be which is in their nature, like jumping all over people or pushing them around.
one thing i really don't like about dogs is how a lot love licking people. i know it's a natural behaviour in dogs but i still find it gross, especially the people who let their dogs lick their mouth/face without knowing what else the dog has licked or put in its mouth beforehand.
dogs are also more commonly known to be more destructive compared to cats. I've heard of cases like dogs eating entire walls, mattresses, destroying entire coaches, beds, etc. compared to cats who maybe can scratch up your couch or curtains but that's about it.
i also personally find befriending a cat more special and rewarding. most dogs just run up to the first person they see and are automatically friendly to them, even strangers and a lot are dumb enough to even be friendly to robbers and stuff breaking into your house unless they were trained for protection or something. most cats are much more wary and usually you have to build up a rapport with them before they fully give their trust to you compared to a dog.
that's just my personal opinion tho, it's fine if you have a different opinion.
There is no "better", it just depends on your needs and personality. Cats are more independent, you don't need to walk them and you can leave them alone for longer, they're usually not clingy. However, dogs are more loyal and empathetic, they can read human emotions perfectly and an oxytocin bond can form between a dog and its owner (the same type of chemical bonding that's present between a mother and her child). Having a dog also makes you go out more, which is good for your health. It's up to you which one meets your needs more.
Ive said it once and Ill say it again. Dogs give wet kisses, cats give dry kisses. Take your pick and go from there.
I love both! They're like comparing apples to oranges in a way because they're so different.
Having had both, I think cats are a bit easier to care for and more independent, which makes them good for people with busier lifestyles. As long as I leave my cats plenty of food and water, a clean litter box, and toys, they are happy while I'm at work during the day. However, depending on the cat, they're not always quite as affectionate as dogs (or at least, it always has to be on their terms when they are 🤣; with that being said, I've had extremely affectionate cats that want to be wherever I am and love to snuggle). Litter boxes are both a pro and a con, as dealing with them isn't exactly the funnest, especially when they get litter everywhere outside of the box, but it's nice not having to worry about letting them in and out and them having accidents in the house. A great thing about dogs is how trainable they are, whereas like I said about cats, everything is always on their terms. 🤣
Cats are quieter they are more independent. If you're annoyed by them just put them in another room. Dogs are loud and lick your face. They cant use a litter box they are always loudly licking themselves which is annoying. They also can be a threat to others. They take huge shits.
I use to like dogs more but I like that a cat is more independent.
That solely depends on if the pet is for you.
But I, personally am not much of a cat or dog person. I prefer pet fishes personally.
Dogs will be with you through thick and thin. Cats have a 1/10 chance of having that quality.
On the one hand you could leave a cat unattended for a weekend with just food and water and there wont be a massive mess. Dogs are another story entirely.
Dogs are also great for utility reasons. Cats are in it for themselves, dogs on the other hand can be trained to do a wide variety of tasks and jobs that they would love to the point of depression if they retired from it.
