Levayan satanism iin?

I'm not sure if many people understand what this is, so if you don't, here's this
http://www.churchofsatan.com/

I hear LeVayan Satanists say that their image is smeared by the media. Usually it's followed by them referring the 'Satanic Bible' by Anton LeVay, with an assuring statement that people will change their minds upon reading this.
I started reading this book- within the first several pages I felt it was worse than Satan worshipping. The book painted them as selfish, but to claim you're your own God is downright arrogant

But assuming you may not have read it, when you read their website statement, do you feel more confidence in their religion or less?

It is nothing but a tongue in cheek form of atheism, used simply for shock value.

    It's LaVey.

I bought a copy, read it and found it juvenile. I can see its appeal to certain people though.

Evil is evil and Satanism falls within that category. It is dark, dark, stuff that any sane person wouldn't to get themselves into it.

There is no such thing as Evil.
Anymore than there is such a thing as Good.
      These are relative terms.
They have no bearing on reality.
'Good' is only good if you favour it.
'Evil' is only evil if you have an aversion to it.
They only work in relation to each other.
If something is defined as not 'Good' then it must be 'Evil' (in this context).
This makes no sense in the real world.

It's cute I guess, but I'm sure they're just as big a bunch of hypocrites as the followers of any other religion.

  • Fun fact: LaVeyan "Satanists" don't even believe in Satan. It's just a fad for angst-ridden, disenfranchised teenagers.

    ''Church of Satan''

Makes me question if I'm reading something out of a science fiction novel.

I would call it Pantheism...the belief that eternal truths are found in Nature ...that Nature is God...they choose the word Satanic for shock value but they are Pantheists...they believe that a close study of Nature reveals the truth
