Lol, habits

One summer, back when I was living at home we saw a total of 3 carpet beetles. After the first 2, I was completely freaked out as they were spotted on the floor, I thought maybe there are tons more in closets, etc. I avoided closets for a while until one day around a month later, I was feeling brave and wanted to do some deep organizing. All was going well until I reached the back of my closet (it was a large walk-in) and noticed some black clothes that looked particularly untouched. Thinking this would be an ideal location of bugs, I slowly carried some pants by their hanger and shook them a bit by a window and a large carpet beetle descended from the pants. Ever since... I have never wore any piece of clothing or using a blanket or towel without vigorously shaking it. Is this normal?

Perfectly understandable. I once found a dead insect in a sock that I was wearing.

Last spring, I went to our cabin that had been closed for the winter. I put on a jacket that had been hanging there since the previous fall and felt a sting on my arm as I slipped it through the sleeve. Sure enough, a wasp was in there and "zapped" me. I'm guessing that people who live in scorpion territory do the same with shoes and boots before they put them on.

    I HATE those little fuckers!
Ever notice how they seem to disappear for a while and you think you're rid of them then they suddenly seem everywhere? I think they like the warm humid days.

I was laying on the floor once typing away on my laptop when out of the corner of my eye... one was on my chest headed for my face.

Absolutely normal, a definitely a good idea! I tend to run into carpet beetle larvae, and those things are hideous. If it makes you feel more normal, I have an extreme fear of spiders, so every night (I mean EVERY night), before I crawl into bed, I check all of the walls and corners of my bedroom, including my closet for any hiding arachnids. I also scan the floor for them. I spend a good 5-10 mins doing this, but it's the only way I can get a good night's sleep.
