I had this happen to me! An acquaintance invited me over to her place for dinner, expecting me to partake in cooking the meal.

    Cooking is a communal thing. You should offer to help even if you are not asked.

    They probably thought it would be a fun activity to do with guests. It's really nothing to feel upset over.

    Such scumbags! Taking the time to invite you over, and expecting you to help out a bit with preparing the food they spent their money on! Christ, what is with people these days?

      Not odd at all. To partake = to eat. If I were invited for a meal, I would expect to partake of it, rather than sit and watch everyone else eating.
