Married people, what was it like meeting and getting to know your spouse?

While I'm a young straight male, I'd say I've had romantic experiences with a fair amount of girls in my life. Some good, others bad. One girl in particular gave me a profound understanding of what it meant to be in a relationship. What it meant to actually BE with someone, and everything that should come with that. Circumstances were the end of that relationship, and while I believe I've moved on, occasionally I find myself wondering what could have been. It's been quite some time, and I haven't been with anyone since. I don't want to know for closure, just to possibly confirm what I felt, so that I can more confidently look for that feeling in the future.

    I have not had a lot of romantic encounters. But I found my life partner by living life. We met at work and became inseparable fast friends. Neither of us were looking for a partner at the time, we just enjoyed each other's company. We fit together as only opposites could. Our differences were perfect. Where I was weak, he was strong - and vice versa. After a couple months our bond got stronger. We were comfortable with every aspect of each others being and we became physical with each other. It wasn't long after that we knew we were in this for life. However it took us 8 years to actually get married. And after 19 years we are still strong. Their have been bumps. But even when he is the cause of the bumps, he is the only person I want to talk to to help me resolve it. He is my best friend and always will be.

    I dunno, mine cheated on me and did drugs for half of our engagement, soooo. I don't even know if he was the person I thought he was. I didn't even get to marry the shithead.
