I don't believe there is any such thing as an abnormal dream. Dreams can be about anyone or anything, and few things are more normal than dreaming.
Dreams can be weird like that. My dreams often feature random people from my life (sometimes people I have no emotional connection with) playing different roles. In one dream, my eighth grade English teacher was forcing me to marry him. He had a twirly villain's mustache. A boy from my church was at the wedding.
At the end of the dream, the teacher got his face blown off with a pistol.
When I woke up, I was pretty freaked out. Seriously, that was some weird crap. I was shaking and hiding under my covers.
Anyways, the slimeball villain personality the teacher had in the dream was nothing like him in real life. He was soft-spoken and definitely wasn't a pedophile.
Dreams that have real people in them don't necessarily mean anything. I guess your subconscious just uses their appearance or whatever.
There are literally thousands of excellent books out there on dream interpretation. I'd guess there are also plenty of sites online.
Yeah and they mostly contradict each other.
The most valuable suggestion ever made to me about dreams was to focus on the feelings the dream left you with, rather than the content. I've often found that to be a clue to something going on in my life that I need to address.
What they taught us in college was to view the dream through every bit of it's content. IE; if there's a tree, what does the tree see. A person (or many), the same thing. Eventually a common theme may come out of this approach, or not.
Once I had my degree in psychology, I still ended up feeling that it was just so much mumbo jumbo, with a bit of luck thrown in.
I don't think anything in our dreams is very normal . I suppose that DMT effect has something to do with this o.O
it could be a supressed thought / feeling though!
DMT the chemical naturally produced within our brain . There are people that associate this with out dreams , when you synthesize DMT from a plant , grass etc. because it exists within many living things .. it's said to give you an affect very similar to dream but an extremely lucid version of it . It is also said to enlighten those who use it ( probably more so if you are an intelligent user ) It can show you profound experiences but also your inner self so a lot of people use things like DMT and IBOGA to clear up life problems , addictions etc. it's like a drug that gives you critical answers you could use in life but haven't been able to see it previously . It's a tool . This was longer than I wanted but yes that's what I was referring to :p
