Most expensive thing you’ve shoplifted?

I’m just curious what is the biggest and most expensive people on here have stolen. I once stole a silver locket worth $75 and a dress worth $60 but I’ve never lifted anything super expensive.

I don’t shoplift 35
$0-$50 15
$50-$100 4
$100-$150 1
$150-$200 0

I've never shoplifted. I'm a good citizen, I think i'm gonna go shoplift tomorrow to celebrate my goodness. I deserve it.

A new flat screen? Jewelry? Maybe a new phone?

So many possibilities, how will you choose?

put it flat on top of the cart and then throw a blanket over it. Security will never know.

I was thinking you try to return it by purchasing the first one, then going back to the store with the recept to try and return one you just pulled off the shelf.

Stealing from a store is bad but I don't see it as bad as stealing from your friends. THAT is unforgivable.

Do you know that you're making people's lives difficult by stealing? Are you aware that someone unjustly incurs a loss for your sake?

Larceny such as shoplifting shouldn't be a criminal offence. Civil only. There is no wider harm to society caused by a person who takes things which are on public display. It's a private matter between the shop and the lifter.

This dumbass will get caught eventually. She is a kleptomaniac.

Look, if you steal from the same place enough times, they start watching real close. I work in a store and it is at least once a week the cops are there busting a shoplifter. I imagine they are there daily, but I just don't see it cause I work late and in the "back" part of the store where we hide all the stuff that customers cannot find.
Yep, when customers ask if there is any in the back, we say "no" cause the last thing a company wants is more sales.

    • I’m not a kleptomaniac because I don’t do it compulsively, I just do it because I like nice things and I don’t like spending money.

I never really robbed anything that expensive, but many times I went out all day and came home with like $150 worth of stuff and I used to do that 3-4 times a week. I dont do it anymore but at that time I was in a desperate situation

Dog food lol it was on the bottom rails of my shopping cart and I did self check out and I realized I had forgotten to scan it when I went to my car to load groceries lol whoops.. I was too embarrassed to go back in and figured Walmart owed me anyway for having to wait 25 minutes on a price check 😂

Here is the thing - eventually you will get caught stealing and trust me, retailers LOVE catching thieves.

At a store, you can accidentally break shit and nothing will be said. You can be a bad customer, whatever.

But the moment they catch you stealing, they really enjoy it. It would be like if you caught a rat or mouse who had been ruining stuff in the pantry. You catch it and the critter is going to have hell to pay.

You ever talk to someone who had something stolen? They often say, "I would live to catch the son of a bitch who did it..."

You might want to break your habit of stealing right now. Once you get caught, you are fucked.

            • I like to tell myself that everything I’ve ever done in my life has turned out fine so why wouldn’t this? I’ve done it loads of times and not been caught.

Plus if I’m caught, the fact that I’m a small, young, female means people automatically view me as non threatening and trustworthy so I’ll just pretend to cry, say I forgot to pay by accident and offer to pay for it all.

According to a documentary I watched once, statistically more women shoplift than men.

Depends on the source of info whether it is more men or women. Plus typically women shop more so it would make sense that more women shoplift.

I looked it up about who shoplifts more and the reports seem to be all over the place. Some say men, some women, some older, some younger... Seems inconclusive.

Even data about likelihood to be caught is odd, one report said chances of getting caught are 1 in 48 but if someone ISN'T caught, how would they make it into a statistic in the first place?

Two facts cannot be argued - it is not worth the risk plus if one is caught, the store is not going to be nice about it.

              Comment Hidden ( show )
            • Probably true. Things that women want (clothes/makeup/jewellery) are all really overpriced and easy to steal.
