What southern state is the most insignificant?

Compared to the noise they make: Texas (and by a long shot).
To put it into Texan Terms: "Texans constant bragging is mostly hat."
Im surprised anyone picked Texas. It's the richest southern state. They have oil and when a lot of people from other countries think of the USA they think of Texas.
I picked Texas, but I read it wrong. I thought you put "most significant".
They have more EGO than they have oil; which is the basis of my comment.
Mineral wealth is not what makes a state great in my book. Example: While you are correct that Texas has the biggest mineral wealth in the USA, California with little mineral wealth is a far larger economic power.
I believe that "Intellectual Development" makes a state great. What do you accomplish with the people you have that is not dependent on natural resources. I have not done a direct ranking of each State on that. But I'd like to point out that Massachusetts is a State that has done well in that regard. California as well (although they are currently dismantling parts of what made them great). Silicon Valley was built on using brain power - not natural resources.
Oh I was just talking about significance. Since you are a old school conservative its surprising you say these things about Texas. Silicon Valley is starting to move to Texas. Tesla has also moved there. They have a rich economy and low taxes and low regulations. In my opinion Texas is the most significant southern state.

The tax situation is why I said California is currently dismantling parts of what made them great.
However, for every company that moves from California to Texas, 2 to 3 move to States other than Texas. Texas clearly does not appeal to all (and not even most of them).
My first thought was "Arkansas", but after some thought...The state is the home of Walmart. My second guess is Oklahoma.
