My cat adores dead leaves

My cat has a thing for eating dead leaves. Like the ones that fall from trees. He does eat living green plants too but for some reason he likes the brown dried ones more. It's like potato chips for him. He is well fed so its definately not due to hunger. I dont let him do it too often but whenever he's outside he does it. My question is, is it normal, and is it safe?

It's normal, but safe? It depends on the leaf.

For some reason I found this cute :) just imagine a little kitty crunching on leaves and rolling around in them.

One time he had snuck out of the door just as my boyfriend and I were leaving. He chased after him and picked him up to put him inside and he had found a leaf and frantically was trying to stuff it in his mouth with his paws before we could take it from him. it was one of the cutest/most hilarious things I have ever seen

The safety depends on the leaf. You should look up the types of plants you have in your yard and see if they are safe for feline consumption.

As for why he's eating them, they could help with his digestion or offer him a herbal propriety that he is not getting in his food.

Ive thought of this but the question is why the dead brown ones and not the living plants? I have looked up the plants and most of them are harmless but I definatly need to keep an eye on him when he's out in front where the flowerbed is. there is a couple poisonous flowers there and when a leave is all shriveled and dead it is hard to Identify

He might have preference for dried food.

Not to be confused with dry pet food.

I had a cat once who used to eat rose petals.
