Are totally confused. My cat will come up to my rats cage and my rat will come out and greet him and go nose to nose with them and my cat doesn't see him as prey. I think my pets are confused. Not to mention my other 3 cats don't care about my rat. (I should say 2, my 18 year old cat killed my hamster when she was like 5, she is too old now to do anything).
They are friends. My cats are friends with a freaking raccoon family that my mom feeds and a skunk family. It's so weird but they run around together and yet they don't attack each other.. Crazy animals.

Cats are usually smart enough to KNOW that rats are PESTS and NEED TO be killed, regardless what their owner thinks about it.

The others are just trying to be respectful to you by ignoring it.
i have a cat whose kinda like that. He hunts and eats all kinds of small animals, yet he will never go after my other pets, or my baby chickens. I think my cat is used to them though, and seems to know he is not supposed to kill pets ( its amazing enough he is almost twenty and still hunts mice). I had to train my dogs to do the same thing!
Aww I wish mine were like that when I had rats I used to carry them around on my shoulders then my cat would look up and lick her chops. I wish she was as nice as yours!
i wouldnt think thats normal no. my 12 year sister up until a few months ago kept begging my parents for a YEAR to get her a dwarf hamster. we only had one of our cats at the time, but i was just like Kara either you would totally kill the poor thing or our cat will eat him alive in one bite. but i guess its a good your rat and cats luv each other, but pets have been known to suddenly unleash their instictive drives in even the most discliplined homes so idk :/
That's just how your pets are, there will be other cats that would try and kill it.
well cats will kill mice for sure. But rats are bigger and if they dont act scared well a cat might not see it as a prey. Rats are known to get along with cats and dogs... Their prety sociable.
