My cat will only drink from running water

I have a tortoiseshell cat and she will never drink anything out of a bowl, just running water out of the tap. I went away once for a week or so and we had to leave her at home (I asked next door to feed it and stuff) and when I got back she was really dehydrated, in the end i had to force her to drink. All because she won't drink out of her bowl and no one turned on the tap. Is this normal?

    My friends cat is like this. She has a recirculating fountain for it. A good pet store will carry them.

    my cousins cat is like this. i went into the bathroom and it was sitting in the tub waiting for someone to turn the tap on

    When I used to cat sit for my neighbors, they told me to leave their bathroom faucet on a trickle so their cat could drink. 2 weeks they were gone. Their cat wouldn't drink out of a bowl either. My 2 cats (which one is a torti also!) drink from bowls. Sometimes though while I am getting ready in the morning she will lap the running water. Cute!

    One of mine's the same. She won't drink old, stagnant water.

    I heard It's not just normal but also good for them but it might be hard on your wallet if you have a water gauge/tax. An idea is to get a water fountain for your cats or if you live by well water system without any tax or cost, just leave the water run every time you go out.
