My chicken

So I got a chicken about 6 months ago. I also have a house cat and a bulldog up until last week.
I got her for the reason that someday she would lay egggs for me.
I am a vegetarian.
But I eat eggs.
We named her Dumpling.
The bulldog was an outside dog cause he is aggressive with the baby come to find out.
Well...the bulldog and the chicken..
Newman and Dumpling...
because BEST FRIENDS!
We became very found of her as well.
She would come up to us when we were outside and sit on us.. or our friends or whoever.
She would fly around the windows when she was out of food..
We played tag with her.. seriously.
And her and Newman.. hung out 24 hours a day.. every day..for 6 months..
She slept on top of him...it seemed every time she was asleep.
THe cat was exposed to her and our love with Dumpling.
We brought the chicken inside sometimes.
The cat was free to come and go inside and outside..
was ALWAYS around the chicken..NEVER acted weird like he would hurt her... or we wouldn't have allowed dumpling to be so free roaming.
We live in the city and she would just stay around the back yard...with Newman...sometimes get a little brave and venture to the side of the house...but she knew this was her home and was probably a little too 'chicken' to see what the rest of the world was like.
Anyway, Newman snapped at our son last week so we took him to a bulldog foundation.
Dumpling was all alone...
They seriously became best friends.
She once was a little chic...now twice the size of a house cat. Probably because she ate dog food.:)
Well... last night, my husband and I went out of town.. like we do sometimes and when we got home Dumpling was no where to be found...
there was a pile of feathers in the front mulch bed.. so i started looking around the house for her...afraid.
The neighbors have a whole in the back of there house.. like a crawl space...
i saw a trail of feathers down in there and went to get my husband..
he crawled in there with a flashlight and found dumpling.. he said the only thing that was left of her was she wings..
Cougar sat on the porch....licking his chops.....
He had waited until dumpling didn't have her friend(newman around) to protect her anymore.. and until we were gone.
He had been around the love we showed our chicken...it sounds stupid.. but it wouldn't if you had raised a chicken.. we didn't think they had much personality until we had one of our own.
Anyway, CATS CANNOT LOVE... don't let them trick you, too.
So.. what I am wandering is normal or not..
isn't if a bull dog and chicken can be friends forever..
but if me taking my cat of seven years out to the country tomorrow and dropping his mother natured serial killer butt off. ?
No one wants a middle aged cat....
Let me know.

Your dog snaps at your child, your cat eats your hen. That makes a clear pattern. You leave alone and free a cat with a bird. You are criminally irresponsible and dumb to have animals under your "care". Then you come talking ill of the cat as it was its responsibility. You are a dangerous retard. The behaviour of the dog, what happened to the hen, all is your fault.

Its a cat, what do you expect it to do with a chicken? Fucking cuddle it? Its in the cats nature to hunt. If you dropped your cat off I'd love to put a bullet in your fucking skull.

  • You could just stop getting pets because you aren't really geared that way, emotionally and mentally. I mean who puts birds and cats together alone for extended periods then blames the cat for being incapable of love?! Maybe the chicken said something that set the cat off-or maybe the dog said some shit to the cat behind the chickens back and it went all crazy because it thought the chicken was its friend before that and it's feeling we're hurt. You don't know. No wonder that cat can't love-I wouldn't either if my owner kept taking the new guys side instead of mine on everything!

Things like this piss me off. YOUR cat eats YOUR chicken, but you wanna take it to the country and drop it off where in turn it will fend for itself by eating someone else's chickens? Do your cat a favor and find it a home before it meets a bullet by someone protecting their flock. Move to the country and experience people dropping off their unwanted cats, dogs, and pests such as coons that they couldn't kill because "it was just too cute", and see if you don't get pissed when it kills, maims, or gives your other pets, parasites and diseases. You're in the city, your cat has never experienced being around a chicken before. Cats kill birds, of course that's the chance you take when leaving your bird unsupervised. Cats raised around flocks all their lives sometimes turn on a flock if it gets hungry enough. Same for livestock guardian dogs. There is ALWAYS a chance it might happen. It's your fault for not keeping your chicken in a secure coop. If you want to blame anyone, blame yourself. I've had a fox kill 2 of my cayugas and I'm not gonna flip at the fox, because it's doing what a fox would naturally do. It was my fault for not putting them up a few hours earlier. Next time if you want a chicken, do it a favor and build it a SECURE coop.

I feel so bad for the chicken! He just lost his best friend and then when you leave the cat was chasing him and killed him! How scary must that have been for the chicken! Sad.

Choose an adoption shelter not somewhere where she might die. ):

News FLASH, Cats and Women have the same traits as far as Love goes.

Men have been tricked from the very beginning, but don't be fooled and don't mistake controlling, obsessive, manipulative, needy or clingy behavior as Love either.

Cats can love, it just depends on how they were raise. Not that I condone this, but if you really don't want the cat, take it to a local animal shelter.
