My dog growls all the time. is it normal?

Hi.
I mean, it's not like he only growls when he's mad. He growls when he's happy, when he's petted, when he's hungry, when he's sad, when he's crying..ALL THE TIME. I wonder why.

Is it a small dog that travels in a purse? They're horrible ill tempered little things.

But if it's an actual dog then I'm stumped.

Some breeds do have their own noises that they tend to make. My dog makes an odd noise that sounds like a growl when she is pleased to see you or is trying to get your attention (want to play, go out etc) but it tends to be something her breed does, it's not an actual growl.

We tend to think of dogs as simple. They're not. They have different personalities just the same as we do, and they can have strange traits just the same as we do. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with your dog, by the way, just that dogs are like people. All different. Look at the different people on this website. I can think of a few who'd growl even if they were happy.

Maybe it's his way of talking. Even when dogs growl each growl may have a different quality or sound to it.

When he growls, kick the shit out of him. That's how a friend of mine got his dog to stop making that whiney, annoying noise that dogs make deep in their throats.
