My dreams are nothing like how other people describe theirs

When I'm asleep or about to fall asleep I see the most beautiful things. I can create beautiful psychedelic images in my mind, and can hear complex music and fast jazz solos where I hear every note. This happens in my dreams but I can totally tap into it when awake too. Also all of my dreams are lucid. I have no idea how to make any of this useful to me outside of my imagination since the sounds and shapes change so fast and I don't have the musical or artistic skill to capture them at the speed they come. My dreams also have many parts and are far more complex and absurd than other people describe theirs or anything I've experienced in life when awake.

Also when I'm half asleep my mind will have thoughts that connect many things metaphorically, like I will be thinking about something, and without trying will imagine a visual diagram for it, and sounds that line up with the visual diagram, and could also have 1-3 more thoughts that are metaphors for the first one and also can be displayed visually and through sound.

I feel isolated because I don't think other people think like this

Last night I tried to lucid in the classic sense. Usually it's much more interesting to let it flow only small things on occasion, but I was able to uproot an entire house and have it fly up in the air, although it lost a lot of it's detail but the shape was still there. Also part open this mountain. And throw this car which kept full detail. I also was able to 'keep the dream' when I was so aware and had the energy up to be awake. And it was cool to manipulate that hyper lucidly by just 'getting sleepy' again and it came back to focus. Lots o fun!

  • I don't know if most people have these dreams, but I have the same experiences you described except mine are sometimes nightmares that take place in dystopian societies in other worlds.
I have come to the conclusion dreams take place in the chaos realm that exists between realities. I remember them as well as I do here and believe the characters in them are real as well.
When you compare characters in dreams to the ones here I notice that they seem to have a mind of their own.
If they were only my imagination why am I unable to predict them? Why do they tell me things I do not know in my interactions with them? They definitely seem to have a mind of their own.

I hear music too and I am a musician and do recreate my dream music. It is a huge influence on my music. I draw things I see and write stories based on my adventures. The more I recreate what I dream the more I become in touch with those realities.

I recommend keeping a dream journal as well. It helps connecting with your dreams self and recognize recurrent places and themes.

I am not sure if our dreams are different or if we are just remembering them better. It seems maybe everybody does this but forgets and we have the gift to remember.
