My eyes occasionally burn and get red

I know it’s not normal I’m just trying to pin down what the hell is causing it. Mostly during the night and it all involves just touching my own eyes with my hands, nothing fancy and there is nothing on my hands at all, there is no dust, pollen or anything, i only get light allergies during the late spring but this is like a 1/20 chance of my eyes breaking out into horrific stinging and uncontrollable crying. I don’t have any allergies to bedding, plastics, animals. Only to heavy amounts of pollen in the air.

A few times, I've gotten an unidentified allergen in my eye and the white of my eye swells up so much it bulges out. Looks like poached egg white, but red. Antihistamine eye drops fix it. To my knowledge, nothing unusal went near me or my eye.

My point is, you could well have a reaction to something and you just don't know what it is. It only takes a small amount of irritant in an eye to set it off.

    • Yeah but isn’t weird it just effects the eyes and I don’t get sick or any other kind of allergic reaction?

Eh. I have a friend whose hands peel in the summer, as an allergic reaction to something unknown. She went overseas last summer and the peeling stopped. Only her hands peel, nothing else.

Reactions are weird. Also, I don't think it takes much of a substance to react, particularly in something like an eye.
