Everyone I ever knew who took gender studies said it was a waste of time and money. They came out learning things that didnt even help them.
I am a cis female. The class is intro to gender studies. I just said I identify as female, and Caucasian and hetero and everyone laughed. Everyone, including the professor looked down on me and my opinion. My life has been horrible, I don't need to be judged this way.
Why did you introduce yourself like that on the first day of class? I think they laughed at you, because of how you introduced yourself. Why didn't you just say something like,"hi, my name is O.P., and I'm looking forward to this semester in class"?
Most college students are statistically white, female, and hetero. It doesn't make sense for a demographic to shame the same exact demographic for being the same exact demographic. I guess I'm just confused.
Did she mean "what do you like and where are you from"? That makes more sense. Maybe they laughed because your answer wasnt expected and the professor thought you were making a joke.
