My interests make me lonely

Despite what other people have said, I'm not that good at talking with people- I'm reserved, and I like to be by myself.

For whatever reason, whenever someone says something ignorant about something that I even mildly like, it really ticks me off. For the longest time, I couldn't figure out why that is until I realized something: my interests are part of the reason why I'm lonely.

I like to watch older movies from the Golden Age of Hollywood, I like video games, but usually the ones that not a lot of people play, I like to watch anime and I appreciate English dubs, I like to watch shitty reality tv shows, I like watching hilarious internet celebrities- I know that there are obviously people online that I can talk to about these things, but I don't know anyone in real life who does.

My friends aren't interested in the majority of the things that I listed, so even with my friends sometimes, I feel lonely.

is it normal that my interests are the reason why I'm so lonely?

    This is common. There are plenty of people out there who are into weird things, thus they feel like no one really understands them. If you really fee that lonely then I suggest going to places where you'll meet people who the same interests as you, like anime expo. Trust me, eventually you'll meet people who either like the same things as you or are willing to be interested in them for you.

    Yea it's normal. My interests make me lonely as well.
    It sucks that a lot of peoples' common interests these days are drugs and shitty music. -___-

    Maybe the lonely people who are actually into cool stuff are really just the faction of interesting people in the world, despite what society might think. :)

    And sadly my parents are overprotective so i can't go to anime expos.

    Ugh, I have the same problem. There is no one where I live who I can talk to about my interests. I can't drive (I got into an accident a few years ago) so getting out and meeting people is hard. I tried to talk to people in my photography classes, but that turned out to be a bust. I also love birds and nature, but I have no one to share my interests with. I just want someone to go window shopping at Best Buy with, or sit and watch and discuss the owls with me. But there is no one. :(
