My mom wanted to abort me and wanted to give me up for adoption?

My sister told me that her father (not my biological father) convinced my mom to not abort me. We were in a argument so I cant tell if it is true, my mom wasn't the best but she cant be blamed since she was in pain all the time from a surgery when she was 17. I know for a fact my mother WAS going to give me up for adoption to one of her good friends who couldn't have children of her own (She was wrongly diagnosed, she only has sons though). But apparently when my mom saw me she couldn't do it (she knew I could have a better life but I guessed she loved me.) Is this normal? Am I crazy? should I see a therapist?

    Having an abortion, choosing adoption, and having and keeping a baby are all very hard descions.

    "She only has sons, though." How does that relate to her wrong diagnosis? Whether the child is male or female has to do with which male zygote (sperm) fertilizes the egg. If the sperm has two Xs, then the child is female. If it has one X and one Y, the child is male. It has nothing to do with the female.

    If you haven't checked this out with your mother, how do you know your sister is telling the truth?

    If you felt loved by your mother as a child, it doesn't matter that she considered giving you up for adoption, but if this bothers you seek out some therapy to deal with it.

    I tried to convince my daughter to have an abortion when she got pregnant accidentally at a young age from failed birth control, but she didn't abort and that's now my wonderful much loved oldest grandson.

    Sadly, it's common.

    Both my parents just turned 20 at the time of conception. Dad wanted me aborted asap and handed my mom the money to do so. Mom sat on it for 3 months, and drank her ass off while pregnant with me during that time. Eventually, she decided to keep me since I'm her first pregnancy and stopped the drinking. I'm shocked I didn't come out with complications from her recklessness. So my life was kept because I was first in line. Unfortunately, she aborted all her other pregnancies after me due to forgetting to take her BC and not loving my dad anymore (Mom casually told me all of this).

    Her behavior, plus my Aunts having children so early is why I'm so pushy about women/girls getting on birth control. Seriously, you can get it for free at planned parenthood depending on your income. Abortion should only be an option if raped or ectopic pregnancy occurs. I could have had a big family of brothers and sisters, oh well.

      Good thing your mom pulled herself together.

      I agree with your outlook on abortions. Some think of it as a form of last resort BC when it's not. I get it's their body, but they gotta be more responsible.

    You should try not to take it too personally. It's not that she didn't want you, it's that she didn't want any kids. And in the end she sacrificed living the life she wanted in order to raise you anyway.

    Happens. As long as she doesn’t try manipulating with any of that or takes it out on u with bringing it up in arguments a lot

    She loved you. Being a pregnant teenager has to be difficult. Just know you were too precious to give away.
