My rat died 3 yrs ago.

My rat died 3 yrs ago. Since then I keep crying about her. I still miss her, I know thats normal. But still? I don't know how to deal with stuff like this. I keep blaming myself for that. I don't know why. Is this normal?

    Rats make wonderful intelligent pets and yes it is normal to feel the pain of your lost companion. With anyone whose close to you you never quite get over their absence you just try to deal with it.

    I had a rat for about three years,her name was Carmen. She was very sweet and intelligent and I still miss her. While I can think about her now without crying, I still find it hard to look at rats that look like her. I'll never forget her. ;_;

    I've had rats since I was 9 years old. (with a few sad and lonely ratless gaps here and there)They have been such a big part of me. Recently, one of my best rats passed away unexpectedly. I was a hard death to bear with- I found myself on the bathroom floor in a store crying hysterically. However, three years is a long time to be mourning. Have you ever thought about getting other rats? Having two at a time is a great idea.

    (you have to keep in mind that rats only live to about 3 years- as sad as it is)

    obvs the majority of these ppl dont understand i have 2 pet rats n i love them id b devastated if they died... just try think if u didnt buy ur rat it wud probably have ended up as snake food n u must of given it a happy life instead n rats generally live for 2-3 years so thet have short lifespans.

    it is but you should let go of it. When you go get a pet rat you have to live with the fact that they dont live to bevery old... If you realy like rats you Just get 2 big cages, get 1 male 1 female. Make babies, separate boys n girls in the 2 cages. and when they get old and some of them start passing away you make new babies and so on. So theres always something to remember them by.

    it happened on me too. my first hamster died when i was 14 due to the heat. i was still a child back then, and it is my very first pet.
    my hamster died because of me. i admit it. that time, i wanted to dry him or her ( uh... i don't know what is it's gender )using my hair dryer. in an instant, it died.
    even tough i have neither good or bad memories about it, but one thing i remembered the most : i love it.
    like littlegeorge14 said, time heals all wounds. let it go, forget the past, look forward on the future.

    You will always love an miss your rat. Time heals all wounds though. You will probably eventually be able to think about her and not cry but let that time come naturally.

    one of my dogs is getting very old and i cried for 3 days nonstop before we took her to the vet because i thought she had cancer. Although she came back perfectly normal, just over weight.

    But even then, her breed (bernese mountain dog) dies at about 6-8 years. She will be 10 in june, so im still upset thinking that someday she wont wake up. =[

    Shes my baby and idk what ill do when she dies. I will cry just as much as you guys and maybe even more.
    I wont ever forget her either.

    Pet rats are awsome!! I have had 3. They are the best out of all the little caged critters. They are affectionate. Mine came when you called them. Yeah, sometimes they got out of their cage, but never ran away. I took them almost everywhere with me.

  • I had a rat a couple years ago and when she died I cried and cried so much . I got a new one and she recently died and I didn't cry as much ... but rats are just like little dogs and you get so close to them
