I myself wouldn't do it. Tans are great and all, but that's just more unnecessary chemicals going into your body through your skin.

That's just my personal opinion though. Even if I got a tan, I would still, eventually have to accept that I am a blue eyed lass of Irish descent and no chemical will change that.

      skin is a barrier.

        Are you serious?
Skin is an organ that can and does absorb chemicals.

I am serious. skin is most impenetrable. if it was so feeble, we'd all be dead? the point I was trying to make is that spray tans don't seep into our blood through our skin.

You seriously... must be kidding me.

" if it was so feeble, we'd all be dead?"

We have immune systems and our skin does have certain resistance mechanisms towards chemicals HOWEVER, your skin can not resist EVERY CHEMICAL that is applied to it. The color change of your skin due to the dye is a chemical reaction and if skin was impervious to said reactions then that spray tan would eventually sweat off, it would not even take.

The same principle applies to tanning, tattooing, nicotene patches and the environmental chemicals that speed the process of aging. There is a chemical change or reaction in the skin which would not be possible if skin was impenetrable, and that statement is one of the most defiant scientific statements that I have heard within the past few weeks. These chemicals that you speak of have the capacity to affect the cells within your skin.

I'm not implying that spray tanning is inherently dangerous but it is STILL exposing your skin directly to unnecessary foreign chemicals.

Skin may be strong and act as a barrier but it is no where near inpenetrable.

The spray tan chemical(DHA) doesn't change the color of your skin tone, it gets darker itself. You can literally rub it off in the shower. There are a select few CARRIERS that allow for transdermal medication hence nicotine, birth control, and nitroglycerin patchs. But as far as suggesting that things magically penetrate skin, that's backwards. Pollution doesn't penetrate skin, it gets inhaled. Acids are acids, they burn skin. Radiation can pass through elephants.

Spray tans don't seep into the blood.

It's not just the price of a self-tanner that matters, it's application. Unless you're willing to spend a lot of time practising, experimenting with different products, and dealing with blotchy tans in the meantime, you're better off seeing a professional.

If you want to do it yourself, make sure you exfoliate first. Kiehl'S Sun-Free Self-Tanning Formula is supposed to be good.

A word of advice: in cosmetics, price is no indication of quality. Before you buy something, look up reviews online.

Don't get tanned because it would look fake having tanned skin and blue/green/hazel eyes or blonde/red hair. I don't like getting tanned anyways. I like my pale russian skin, red hair, and chinese eyes. That's my opinion anyways :p

Nah, that's not true. No spray tan is perfect. It's not like having a tan from the sun baby. It sits on top of your skin, sort of embedded but it can certainly rub off. In other words, it doesn't fade, you wash it off little by little.

EH, fuck it. Do it at least once. exfoliate like never before. Make sure you get every single tiny crevice. You really have to use mild body and face wash though. I didn't and my face looked pasty.

PS: breath as little as possible while you are being sprayed and don't breath at all when they are spraying your face. it's not safe.

I say "no". Fakeness (I know it's not a word), will never be able to rival that of realness.

Lezkiss, you're from Greece, no? The last time I checked, the usual greek climate was rather hot. That being said, if you desire a tan you should go outside and responsibly do so. Let the sun caress your skin with it's powerful rays, but don't hang out there for too long. Yes, you'll get a nice dosage of Vitamin D but you'll also run the risk of Skin Cancer.
