Nightmare /dream

When I have bad dreams ,I am able to wake myself up in my dream its really cool actually.. Im in my dream, all of a sudden im about to get hurt or something (well then I guess its a nightmare really)but anyway all I have to do in my dream is close my eyes hard and I wake up in the real world .Has anyone experienced this,or know why i can do this? Also, this is irrelevant but anyway,I always have dreams about the nails on my fingers being bent backwards, really painful and uncomfortable.Anyone ever have these dreams or know why they occur?

Yep, that's lucid dreaming. You should read up on it and find ways to do it more and use the ability to explore your dreams.

I once had a dream where I met Satan and he was wearing Dorothy's dress from the wizard of Oz.

Sounds like a type of lucid dreaming

I had a dream I was aware of last night, but I couldn't control it, I was in my old psychology classroom refilling staplers, I actually thought to myself as it was happening " wow, this is a boring dream "

Definitely lucid dreaming (: You're lucky you can wake yourself up.

Whenever I'm about to have a nightmare, I will suddenly realize that I'm dreaming and I will end the nightmare the only way my mind will let me - by extending my arms and flying through the sky like Superman. (I've tried throwing myself down flights of stairs but that never worked.)

I've tried to control my dreams more actively by trying to conjure up my favorite fictional characters and stuff, but it always feels like my mind is actively fighting me for control over my dreams, like I feel pressure in my head and the images I want won't come.
