No period but i’m a virgin?

I’m 18 years old and a virgin but I haven’t had a period for 2 months, my last one was December 12th-17th. I have never done anything that could result in pregnancy/STDs so why has my period stopped?

I am on a weight loss diet and aim to reach my goal weight of 88lbs sometime before summer but I am still eating 1250 calories per day, could that be why I am missing it? My starting weight was 98lbs but I don’t know what I weight now and I’m 5’0.

It's likely your highly unnecessary dieting it causing stress on your body and preventing you from getting your period. If your body is not working in it's normal way it's a sign you are doing something unhealthy and need to stop your dieting.

It's actually obvious. The stress from under-eating and your low body weight are the reason you don't have your period. What you're doing is like a person hitting themselves and wondering why they're in pain. XD

    • I think I am still at a healthy weight though and the minimum calorie recommendation for a woman is 1200, which is less than what I am eating.

Clearly your caloric intake is not optimal for your body. Stop looking at numbers and eat a balanced diet.

I don't think you know what balanced means. Why don't you list these foods?

            • I always eat healthy and no junk food. I always get my 5 a day and I eat small portions of healthy carbs and fats such as pasta and cheese as well as lots of protein such as chicken and fish.

I'm sorry I don't have the patience right now to talk about your burgeoning anorexic behavior.

I think you're being bananas. I'm pretty sure it's lack of food, as I have been there when I was underweight and dieting. I had a whole year without them. Deep down you know this is bad for your body, and your body is a piece a natural masterpiece that does amazing things. All those cells are respiring, heart beating, tissue repairing to keep you alive and healthy. All of your body wants you to be healthy. And if you do this, you will have significantly reduced brain function, lower moods, hair loss, and lose fertility- your loss of periods is just the start. Imagine the children that you could bring forth for your ancestors, that you can love and watch grow- gone.
I have been obsessed with weight loss and it just made me miserable. Another girl I know almost died, and she was NOT herself. Please look after your precious body and stay healthy. Would your mom want you to do this to yourself?

Same. Ive been both anorexic and overweight. You know what? Im happiest just being normal. Nobody will give you awards or accolades or love for being thin.

It sounds like you could potentially have an eating disorder, forcing yourself to under eat until you are half a stone underweight is going to be terrible for your physical and mental health.

Please seek help before you damage yourself.

    1. Why in the world are you on a weight loss diet when you only weigh 98 lbs? Stop it; there is no need for you to be on such a diet.
    2. Either you have a medical condition or it's because of weight loss, but to be sure, you should go see a doctor.

Yeah that's not uncommon, many things affect your menstrual cycle.
If you're underweight that affects your period just as it affects your overall health in a negative way.

    • Maintaining slightly below average weight is not anorexic. I don’t have body dysmorphia, I just like the skinny look.

You are only 44kg and still want to lose weight? Light breeze will blow you away.

Unless you mean kg, and you are 98kg?

Um if you are 44kg.. YOU ARE SKINNY!! There should be no reason why you should losing more weight.. if you live in Australia or anywhere that uses *KG* as a weight reference I am pretty sure that you are considered as underweight..

I find it slightly hilarious that some skinny people (like you) think their fat/chubby (cause clearly you want to "lose weight and look noticable skinny") and some fat/chubby people thing they're skinny

All I can say is.. who gives a flying fk what people think on what you look like.. What matters is that YOU are happy with the way YOU look.. shouldn't think that what others think that you are either skinny or fat is good or not.. as long as you are happy no one should tell you otherwise..
Just don't do it for someone else or just to get a stupid reaction like that..

Thats what you think...but it might never be enough. My friend lost 30 lbs and thought her life would be great and wonderful...and not much changed. Ypur life wont be magically perfect cause youre thin. Thigh gaps are more about the set of your hips...just sayin. I hope youre not hurting yourself just for an image.

  • It's cute and amazing to be under 100 pounds, but my cousin quit that ideal around fifteen and she's at that five foot height.

It really isn't healthy to starve your body to be under a certain weight, and it also doesn't make you look that good, unless you're going for a scavenger look which might be pretty cool.

But if you're willing to put energy and effort into your body, you could consider sculpting what you have, which could probably make you feel more attractive.

You should see your doctor or talk to your mom though, denying your body nutrients isn't healthy, even if you're eating the right number of calories there could be things you're denying your body which could be causing things to shut down.

            What is your point

            Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Grunewald

If you're under 50 kg you might have to start taking child doses when you take your medicine. Adults aren't meant to be that small.

Being on the lighter side of the 'healthy weight range' for your height is fine, but in discerning what that range is, take your cue from your healthcare provider, not from how you feel.

I agree that it is likely that this is caused by your diet. However, there are other possible causes. You may wish to discuss those possibilities with a Dr.

I cannot comment on your weight goals. The medical charts can be off by 10-15 Lb for someone your height based on your actual body build.

The other thing to be sure of - is that a lot of diets actually are unhealthy in that they cannot be maintained for a long time and result in proper health. Please check out the Keto Diet. My advice: Avoid a lot of processed carbohydrates and artificial oils or fats.

I wish you well with this,
