Spotify released the your most listened to songs of the year for everyone recently and people i know screenshot it to show everyone but literally everyone is listening to the same garbage.

Doja Cat, Kanye West, Justin Bieber and all that. This really bothers me for some reason, it frustrates me because it's like no one wants to listen to anything else. I don't understand the hype around those artists either

    They all have great tastes... for themselves.

    You just disagree with their choice of music. They likely think the same about you.

    It takes time and exposure to learn about other kinds of music, and growing up as well.

    As an example... while non-musicale. As a teenager and younger man I had no use for Ballet. My wife introduced me to Ballet at a much older age... and I really like it now.

    I grew up listening to classical music and have always appreciated that. But the various musicale genres... its hit and miss.

    It bothers me too and I try not to be a total hipster, but honestly I can't help it. I'd rather be a hipster anyway than someone who listens to commercial crap.

    I think a lot of the stuff people listen to, they only listen to it because record labels spoonfeed it to radio stations, just so they can continue to keep the market cornered.

    Good musicians never thrive thanks to the greedy record labels. They're all underground because they can't break through.

    Doesnt matter what you think. People could listen to actual fart noises and I would be indifferent to their preferences.

    Chances are: they're just not your cup of tea. Very few musicians are universally well liked. The ones that are put out the absolute best of their respective era and genre.
