Normal to not understand joy of alcohol?

I just don't understand why so many people drink and really enjoy it. I don't drink anymore because when I have, I would get sick before getting any feelings of real pleasure. If I'd drink enough to get a buzz, it wouldn't be a buzz that felt that good, and I'd not be able to get the buzz without feeling nauseous and like shit for a long time afterwards, just wasn't worth it. I don't understand how many people love alcohol, must celebrate with it, or they can't have a fun Saturday night out without it, is that normal?

Absolutely normal. It gets tasty and pleasurable after you make yourself addicted to it, which usually takes effort with enduring how disgusting it actually is. Just like with any other drug..so yea you're normal

    • I guess I would start loving and savoring it after drinking for awhile and the addictive yearning for it begins, and I'd build tolerance then too. But I don't want to do that, alcoholics are usually such tempermental assholes.

        • The 2 drugs which really make people pissed off are alcohol and crack.

Oh, I would say that for smokers try taking them away or if they run out they can be some grouchy bitches. As far as i'm concerned the tobacco companies are by far the largest drug dealers in the world. Try stepping on a smokers pack of them things and see their reaction. They gonna go ballistic.

As far as I have seen, people have such a different tolerance to alcohol, so it can, will, and does affect people so differently. But also if you are going to drink, be sure to also drink water to keep hydrated and avoid the hangover.

You aren't missing anything in your decision not to drink. It messed up my life. I tried suicide it got so bad. I am now a member of AA. I don't drink anymore.

I drink with friends. excessively. a bottle (750 ml/25.36 oz US) of whiskey all by myself. although i enjoy the experience of sitting down with a bunch of people, sharing jokes and anecdotes and doing all kinds of crazy stupid things and not the taste of the drink. i hypothesize, based on my own experiences, that (most) people drink for the buzz, the numbing of the senses, slowed brain function and spotty memory that enables people to do things they would otherwise not do..

Have a glass of dry wine with a good dinner. The alcohol is a spring breeze on your taste buds.

    Maybe you're allergic to alcohol?

    • Maybe, since I start feeling sick before I feel good whenever I drink.
