Pain killers can make you fail pee test what now?

Pain killers can make you fail urine test. I recently took one and was denied into a program. I am worried what if this happens with something else? Like what if at a job they do random drug test and I fail since I was taking pain killer? Are you just not allowed to ever take pain killers again?

How the hell did you not know that pain-killers can make you fail a piss test? If they are prescribed to you, go back to the homeless shelter and tell them "Hey, I failed the piss test, I didn't realize these can cause you to pop dirty" and show them the bottle. I HAVE failed piss tests for prescription drugs and gotten off clean just by showing them the labeled bottle with my name on it.

In an interview, do the same thing. Tell them that you're on painkillers, they do not affect your work performance but you will probably pop dirty. No biggie. Unless you are on them and they aren't prescribed to you or you have a serious medical condition that would inhibit you from doing said job in the first place... then yes, biggie.

    • Well I somehow got THC positive. I not really sure how. The only thing I take is Ibuprofen and aspirin. I never even smokes cigarettes so I dont know how I got a negative. Since all I ever take is pain killers and I read online that stuff like Ibuprofen has before gotten fake positive for weed. I did tell them I use pain killers.

As part of the paperwork for taking a drug test, the company usually asks you if you're on any medication. Wouldn't that solve the problem?

(Presumably) the issue with the painkillers you're taking is that they're opiates, meaning that they're not chemically dissimilar from heroin.

    • I said I was she said its impossible to be buzzed positive if you're using Ibuprofen/Aspirin. Even though from what I keep finding online about this it keeps listing "Ibuprofen can appear as THC".

Either you didn't inform them you where on prescription medications or you weren't prescribed the medication to begin with in which case you should be careful some medications are illegal to possess if you don't have a prescription

Do what your doctor says - warn them prior to your drug test that you are on the following medication - if it is positive they will instruct you further.

    done.

Over the counter pain killers, like ibuprofen and others, can cause false positives in marijuana tests. The drug testing companies know this. That's why most companies allow for a second test to be done if you test positive and contest it. In the case of marijuana, it stays in your system longer than the pain killers if you're a regular pot user. So, they time the retest for when the pain killers have cleared and if you're using marijuana, it's still detectable in the second test.
