Bingo....
The people who often correct you on all kinds of things... know relatively little about things in life and are just showing their ignorance about many things (including how to have a relationship with people).
Now if someone only corrects you on a specific subject and indicate that they know a lot about that specific subject... they they are most often correct. These people will rarely say anything outside of their area of expertise.
Yes, they're just know-it-alls. The ironic thing is that know-it-alls tend to actually know very little. 🤣
But I thought it was more favorable for someone to be corrected when they appear to be "wrong".
Why'd the rules suddenly change?
Sorry I didn't see this until now!
I think the thing with know-it-alls is that they don't tend to learn from their mistakes, and only double down when corrected.
There are also very popular opinions that are fundamentally wrong, yet sound good to a large group of naive and uneducated people. Some people are great at the art of bullshitting.
OP, it's "he's". By the way, it's "have you ever met". Sorry, just trying to educate you.
The way to handle know-it-alls at IIN is to block them. Eventually, they will get shadow banned.
Unfortunately, know-it-alls are pretty common. I think people behave in this annoying way for various reasons. Sometimes it's about trying to establish dominance in a conversation or a relationship. Sometimes it's about being contrary because the person feels a need to be different. Often it's a sign of insecurity; a person who doesn't feel all that great about themselves deep down will often try to prove that someone else is even dumber than they are.
But this behaviour can be way more toxic than any of those things. Pathological psychopaths and narcissists often use constant nit-picking and correction to undermine their victim's understanding of the world and their sense of what's right and wrong. This is commonly called gas-lighting.
I notice you say you _feel_ that his corrections are, in fact, often incorrect. There's a difference between feeling something and knowing something. I have no idea what sort of stuff he's correcting you on, but it's just possible that he could be right at least some of the time, and the reason you feel annoyed is mainly because you know your beliefs and opinions don't have solid factual and logical foundations.
