Personality and pets

I've been curious about this for a while. I wanna see if it's true that most introverts prefer cats while extroverts prefer dogs. I know is it normal is mostly composed of introverts, but I'd still like to see.

:D really?!?! Ok here goes...they are both retards on opposite ends of the spectrum. M'lady is a dopey doofus who loves her beauty sleep and only moves quickly for food, squirrels or birds. Eek. She'll eat anything at any time. She loves a proper game of fetch with sticks. And she waddles down the stairs, she's not fat at all, that's just how she rolls. She will also try to plow through a closed door if there's thunder or something and I'm in the shower, but my boy won't even push through a partially opened door. I have to open it enough so it doesn't touch him when he goes through.

My litte boy is a total spaz who could play all day. He also loves sticks and he wants you to see that he has it and try to get it from him but chances are, you ain't getting it. He slobbers excitedly all over it and whips his head around flailing drool all over the place. He's picky with what and when he eats, and he is down those stairs in half a second. Like lightning he is. One time when he was a pup, he witnessed m'lady jump and catch a squirrel. He was very impressed. And since then I don't really see squirrels in the back yard anymore..

I think my boy feels a little inferior sometimes. Lady is a bigger and stronger than he is. But he's younger so there's still time.

        • They sound awesome! Did you rescue them? What breeds are they?

Yay! Look at my profile please. Look at it!!! The little one is no longer with me :( she was the runt of their last litter and i wanted to keep her but realistically it wasn't a great idea. Shes in a good home though with one of her big brothers from the first litter. That was my bad, my boy is nutless now so no more puppies :(

If i recall from ages ago, you have the same kind of poochie? Mine are APBT's. I did rescue them both. My girl was 18 months when I got her and my boy was a tiny little guy barely 6 weeks old. I would love to have a huge piece of property and oodles of poochies forever and ever. Maybe some day.

            • Yes! They look awesome! I have a big pit lab mix myself. I found him when he was about a year old just running around scaring everyone in Trenton.

I also volunteer for mercer pet rescue, we take in sooo many pit mixes.

Feel free to romp with my girly. My boy has no friends and that's my fault. He won't attack anyone but he's a bit antisocial and skittish.

  • Honestly, I don't know what I am, an introvert or an extrovert.

On one hand I prefer being alone. I like my privacy alot. Although I like chatting with one person. Two people is fine but I prefer just one person. On the otherhand I can socialize pretty easily, especially if flung in to a social situation quickly...Infact I've handled interviews far better that way and gotten spots before thirty to forty people due to the "fling them in the deep end and see if they sink or swim" method of interacting.

I don't have a problem talking to people, sometimes I'll enjoy it but I overall prefer my privacy.

So, if someone is reading this, would I be an introvert or an extrovert? Or is there an inbetween line?

That said, in terms of the question. I prefer cats though. Infact my cat Samson is cuddled up on my knee right now purring away. They're more independent in my opinion and look nicer, well I think my favorite cat does anyway. My cat Samson always opens my bedroom door at night, jumps up on my bed, wakes me up for me to lift my covers, then goes under them to curl in to my belly and sleep. He's a cute little bastard even if he's a sadistic bastard. He hunts small animals and doesn't even eat them. He just captures them, takes them to his favorite spot, watches them, cleans his ears while watching them, and if they try to escape he casually pulls them back...As if he's watching them suffer. He's not a hunter, he's a psycho! An adorable one, though. ^_^

Sheesh. I went off topic. That's what staying up all night will do to ya.

    • In my opinion you're more of an introvert, considering how you prefer being alone or chatting with only one or two people at a time. Introverts can have excellent social skills and ability to easily adapt to social situations and environments, they just simply find more enjoyment in their own company.

Your kitty sounds like an adorable little devil~ What breed is he, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm an introvert. I like working and being outside - so dogs just suit me better. Cats are fine too, and if I had the patience to teach one to follow me around without a leash, I would like them both equally.

Do you have a favorite dog breed? I think the cat/introvert vs dog/extrovert idea is a bit of an over generalization, because it doesn't take into account breed temperament and the individual personality of the animal.

I have a cat, a dog-like breed of cat, but I love dogs too of course! I figure the the most important things for me in an animal companion are loyalty, intelligence, a calm, gentle and affectionate nature that is safe around kids, the elderly and just about anyone.

Pretty much any dog. Not small yappy things, much.

        No pugs. Never pugs.

Hahaha! Yeah, those are small snorty dogs. My aunt has a shitzu dog that is always trying to hump my sister's poodle and generally annoy my cat at family gatherings. One day that little dog's gonna get his ass kicked.

I guess my top favorites for dog's are collies, Shetland sheepdogs, golden retrievers, poodles, German shepherds, Doberman Pinschers among others of course.
          :-)
