Yesterday I was cashing a check, not much, but instead of taking the money I just donated it on a whim to the special Olympics. The bank teller made a bigger deal of it than I wished she had but still it was nice.
It's the little things that make a difference.
Probably how you made the assumption the OP was looking for attention, when it reads as just a "I made a small positive difference, hopefully others do also".

I wasn't aware you could just tell a bank teller "just give my money to the Special Olympics". Normally you would send money to a charity yourself. But if your bank does handle such transactions you would think it would be more normal to them and they would react accordingly. Either way this seems odd.
The point of donating is to help the cause that you support, not so you can post it on the internet and get attention for it. .-.
Stop being so pretentious, if your going to help then just do it, you don't have to tell people about it.

I didn't read it as them bragging either. I took it as them saying hey if you can you should help out, for example today I donated a little extra cash to the Special Olympics.
Such negativity on this site for no reason, especially when you have your own opinion that is different from the bandwagons..
