It is 2016 and it's time to vote for the next president. Now pretend both bush and obama have each served only one year of presidency and are now up against each other for their second term. As we know, voting for another party (other than republican or democrat) wont matter in the long run. you have to vote for one of the two supposed evils.

EXACTLY! My dad is a little upset with me because I don't have much of a political standing. I chose not to get involved because I know its only going to be "Bullshit bullshut bullshit fart poop giggle bullshit bullshit."
I just want someone who can run this country the right way.

Hmmmm, I don't know, this is one tough call. Do I want the party full of aristocrats that doesn't stand by its platform, or do I want the party full of aristocrats that doesn't stand by its platform?
Of course, you could try actually voting for a third-party. Even if the person you like doesn't get elected, what matters is that you voted and that, because of this, politicians who are in power will be more likely to stick to their platform in the hopes that they can sell their party to future voters. If you don't vote, they won't concern themselves with you and the people in your community too much.
Of course, the media also purposefully portrays a narrow spectrum of political thought as well, while keeping the spectrum just wide enough to engender argument between the big players and provide the veneer of a critical and Jeffersonian press. The game is not to tell you what to believe, but to tell you what everyone supposedly already believes in order to discourage you from challenging the status quo, due to the belief that "I'm only one person, everyone else believes in XYZ, what could I possibly do?"
