Problem with whataboutism
Alot of people say "you're doing whataboutism" but isn't it important to point out double standards and hypocrisy? How can you tell me something is a moral truth when you dont hold yourself to the same standard?

The problem that I've seen is a lot of pundits use whataboutism to skirt the obvious flaws with their side/candidates. It's annoying to listen to and the mental gymnastics they have to go through to sell their point is exhausting.
One example Joe Biden said to a reporter on national TV "I told the ukrainians if you dont fire the prosecutor whos investigating my son (over being on the board of burisma) you are not getting 1 billion dollars." Thats called quid pro quo
Trump blocked payment of $400 million military aid package asking president Zelenskyy to look in to the case. The difference is Trump did not tell them he was holding the aid. They did not know aid was even on the table. To be Quid Pro Quo you must tell them you are holding the aid and use it as leverage.
So this is fine when their side does it worse. But if the side does it that they dont like they go for impeachment. So if someone starts complaining about Trump doing quid pro quo and starts ranting about why they voted for Biden they're being a hypocrit.
I’m some sort of moral relativist at base I’ve been told...accused of, depends on your viewpoint.
So the only “moral truth“ is whatever I, and I alone, feel it to be.
The thing is with whataboutism is that they need to stop it because it isn't a popularity contest.
