Like I hate when people propose at baseball games or basketball games on the screen. That’s way too much pressure for some people and it’s kind of selfish in my opinion.
I would have a small, private proposal.
Proposing at a public event is one of the meanest things you can do to your partner. They're under immense pressure to accept, regardless of how they feel, and if they run off or try to save the conversation for later, people see them as some kind of heartless monster
Its super fucked up. I dont get why the girls sometimes run away tho and say no. Id say yes on camera and then when we sat down id say in his ear "we arent getting married you asshole"
It can from a pessimistic point of view definietely be considered manipulative, seeing as it makes it hard for somebody to say no to such a public proposal. It's near impossible to say no without looking like a massive bitch when so many people are already on the proposing persons side for doing something so cute and romantic. I'm not a romantic person so I would definietely cringe if I ever got proposed to in such an over-the-top manner, not to mention I hate big surprises and being the centre of attention. I would feel bad to say no though so I would most likely say yes in the moment, which would cause issues later on.
I remember a few years ago at Universal Studios in Hollywood my friends and I were watching some random animal show and a dog urinated on a child then a man came on stage to propose (to a woman, not to the soggy child). It was such a bizarre sequence of events.
