What is the best argument you've heard for Atheism?
Notice this thread has no substantial comments. Religious people are indoctrinated into not even being able to give credit to ideas that exclude the possibility of an existence without a fabled god
To be religious means to unwaveringly have faith as that's how you get to heaven. By default they can't acknowledge anything else as possible
Notice that the other only has two substantial comments that actually answer the question, one of them being from yourself. This is an atheist-dominated website, and even that thread only has two comments that answer the question asked. It only makes sense that the minority thread has fewer answers than the majority thread (in this case, zero vs two). I have not answered this question because I believe there are no good arguments for or against religion. Religion is entirely based on belief in something unprovable, so it is impossible to make a convincing argument for or against it.
So, how dare I comment on the lack of substance in this thread because it is so obviously deserved it's actually frustrating for you to read something you agree with?
Is this really where you're going with that?
You really had to down vote and in a roundabout way agree with me just to talk big and put me down, by illustrating my own fucking point?
Discourse over debate, debate leads to being an asshole. You're so quick to belittle me you don't even realize you're saying I'm wrong to say the same fucking thing
Next time I see this shit I'm wacking you on the nose with a rolled up newspaper, m***** f*****
I was just saying that, if you think about it, it makes perfect sense that this thread doesn't have any answers. You were using the lack of responses as an insult against religious people, while I was saying that the lack of responses is simply because of the lack of religious people on this website.
He really does prefer debate over discourse, we've talked about it before
And I've noticed a trend with A LOT of people who disagree to just use different words to say the same thing
So if he really wants debate let's go
Or if he wants discourse he can lol and say how true that is
I have not heard a great argument myself supporting athiesm. Im not saying that to insult athiests Ive met a lot of really smart ppl that are athiests but my opinion is that most of the arguments I hear supporting it is more along the lines of "if god existed there would not be such suffering" or "god said being gay is a sin" which doesnt really prove anything except that god is cruel and narcissistic which he is biasly represented as a just and loving god but the bible says otherwise. But to me those things dont mean an intelligent force doesnt exist. It may not be the god we read in the bible. It could be something epse we don't understand. Evolution doesnt disprove intelligent forces either.
I find that atheism as logically depressing as a given choice of religion. Nothing? Theres nothing? Well that's depressing as hell without even a glimpse at a silver lining.
Even if you belive in some deity like tuhulu the mountain god that is 1000% more of a chance that you were right and you get the benefits of being right in a religion.
Not picking is logical because of blasphemy being a thing. Universalism tries to hedge their bets with the minimum of moral standards. I do to as an agnostic though I'm more conservative than a universalist hippy.
Theres something intelligent out there. Maybe the universe itself is god. It is intelligent in a way that we cant see.
Why does anyone have make an argument for theism? Either people have faith in a Higher Power, or they don't.
