Quitting eye makeup yes or no

I have been thinking about quitting eye makeup for a while. It's so annoying to remove every night and I kind of suck at removing it properly. There is always some residue left in my lashes and maybe because I have such long eyelashes and idk... thick ?... its a bit hard to really get in there and remove every little residue. Its really started to get on my nerves. I used to wear lots of black eyeliner, now I often just wear mascara on my eyes and focus on blush and eyebrows instead. However at my recent internship I started out wearing eyeliner then I stopped and my boss started asking me everyday "are you okay?" or even "oh WOW you look tired today!!" which personally I find extremely rude but okay. Then when I ran into her last week and I was wearing eyeliner she went "hi! wow you look so pretty today!"... I think I look fine with no eyeliner but I guess people get used to seeing me with it and then it looks weird without.
I currently have an inflamed eyelid which I feel is maybe a sign. I wont be able to wear eye makeup now until its fully healed. Maybe I will keep not wearing it even then. Did anyone quit wearing eye makeup for good and was it weird ?

You shouldn't wear makeup for anyone elses sake, it's entirely a personal choice and shouldn't matter to anyone else.

I went through a phase of wearing heavy eyeliner as a teen/in my early 20's, and just got tired of it and stopped. I maybe wear makeup once or twice a year max now, and only light, natural looking makeup when I do. I think if you don't like wearing it and it's causing you some eye irritation, that's all the reason to stop wearing it. Chances are you look fine without it and that like you said, people are just used to seeing you with it, and your boss is a bit too open about her opinions (or just being a "mean girl", unfortunately). People will quickly adjust to seeing you without it and will likely not think much of it either way since most people are more concerned with themselves than others, so it's ultimately your decision!

After a while without it everyone will get used to your natural face. Also your former boss sounds pretty rude if you ask me, you should assign less weight to her opinion.
