I got a small tattoo about 6 years ago. It heeled over nicely, though you can still feel the outline in my skin. Everyone else's tattoos seem to be flush to the skin, like you can't even feel they got a tattoo, but my skin is still raised slightly. There's no infection or anything, and it hasn't caused me a problem, but I can still feel it. Is this normal?
Most people who have tattoos don't give a fuck about what people think of them. It does not mean they have a low IQ by any means, nor are they criminals. Only small minded people think that way. Tattoos are simply a way of showing ones own individualism. I could easily say that people who dislike tattoos are ignorant, boring and don't have a mind of their own, usually choosing not to do something because they might be looked down upon by their families or society. It takes quite a bit of talent and thought to produce great tattoo pieces and in turn, people will pay a lot of money for them. I would rather be a great artist then become something only because society says it's the way it has should be.
i think some of you sound really ignorant. I have a tattoo. I graduated fourth in my high school class and I am an honors student at a prestigious university and I have never committed a crime. Open your minds a little bit...
Sounds like keloid tissue has formed. If it bothers you or worsens, see a dermatologist.

Yes it's normal it just depends on the tattoo artist. I have a tatt on my belly and my tummy. Yer tummy should hurt less because it's mor fatty. But my back hurt less because the guy who did it on my tummy had a heavy hand and I can still feel the outline and it's been a year. I can't feel the one of my back and it was done a few months ago
The tat on my foot is the same way and its been 3 yrs.. and it was on my foot. The artist just put too much pressure..
No it's normal because some people after they heal up their skin rises, I know of at least 10 people who have this condition, it's nothing serious though so I wouldn't worry about anything
It's as separateways said. It's when the tattoo artist applies too much pressure so the needle goes in deeper than is necessary. The tattoo on my leg.. some parts of it will puff up every once in a while. And the one on my back is the same way.
Actually It's from the amount of ink that was placed under your skin. certain tattoos that have very thick outlines and such will do this. but it will also hold up with time
the artist was probably pretty heavy-handed & used more power/pressure than was really needed. my friend has a back piece done by 2 different people and the parts done by the first guy are raised slightly as well. many people have deeper tattoos so no worries =]
One or two small tattoos is ok. But big ones or full body ones are disgusting.
