rap is shite, its just a bunch of rhyming, mostly unrelated words strung together and just spoken to a tune, it takes no talent and all the wankers in the business are just exposing how pathetic they are due to the fact that they try and act cool (and fail) when they probably cant actually get a proper job. rap is the last resort for people too pathetic and stupid to do anything worthwhile.

Tupac was a legend, he was brilliant, and so was Eminem. Hey they made millions you know, they must be doing something right?

Not all Rap and R&b is garbage, in fact growing up in the "ghetto" as I did, a lot of those songs really helped me get through the day, and some even now. A lot of these songs also made me think really hard about the things I believed in, and even question my beliefs and what I wanted out of life.

(not a dirty song like you would think), Nas-If Heaven was a Mile Away, Coolio-Gangsta's Paradise, India Arie-Because I am a Queen, Young Jeezy-Dreamin' and 2pac-keep your head up

Rap is definately crap. Was shit in the 80's and 90's and it still is now. These days its even worse.

These 'artists' have to get guest singers in, usually female, talented and can sing, to hide just how bland and crap the 'artist' is. Eminem has always been one of the worst culprits for it.

I knew that rap had existed even in the late 70's. I listened to some old stuff a little while ago, and thought it was OK compared to todays rap. Granted, I won't listen to rap any day of the week, but I still think it was better back in the 80's w/ MC Hammer etc.

I don't consider rap, music. I really don't. I listen to all types of rock and I just can't see how rap could be considered music, they play next to no instruments.

Well, technically anything that makes noise can be considered music. You can go outside and hear the wind blow wind chimes, hear cars pass by, people talking, dogs barking, and all this can be considered music it's a matter of ones perception. Most rap just sounds like a broken record to me, but there are some exceptions out there. Depends on the artist I guess.

Personally I hate rap, do not like the style or the general lack of instrumentals and other characteristics found in other music. As well as the spike of vulgar songs I have been hearing lately.

I agree with you. I really don't think little kids should be listening to rap music, ESPECIALLY little girls. A lot of rap is incredibly degrading and objectifying towards women. I know this doesn't apply to all rap, but a lot of it is just bragging about how amazing they think they are, how much money they have, going to the club, and having sex with hot bitches.

As much as I hate rap and disagree on the level of "deepness" to it and everything people have to argue for it, I do have to say that it is unfair to call Rap "noise" or to deny it being "music". Rap IS music. It's not the most intelligent or the best thing out there but it IS music.

Im going to put this in the simplest terms I can. Take a rock song, alternative, hard rock etc. And take the lyrics and determine if it could possibly be turned in to your english professor as a poem. Now, try and do that with a rap song. Oh, thats right, i dont think "big booty hoes mang, ya ya, look at my shoes dey so fly i got big rims and my ice be fresh, so fresh so fresh mang i be fly." qualifies as any type of poem, i personally think listening to todays rap rots your brain. You should aspire to have an open mind and respect for true human expression of creativity, no matter how you prefer to judge it. I do not like country music very much at all for example, but there is a country song on Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on the comedic country radio stations called something like "All My Ex's Live in Texas" and I sing that one to myself every once in a while. I learnt that one on a long mission that had to drive very fat to, and I would constantly fail, and appreciated it and I know country fans enjoy their country. Music fans should enjoy their music and let others do so without rude judgements- it means a lot to some people.

I still prefer rap (older rap, anyway) to freaken death metal or 'screamo' as it is called. All those bands sound the same and the lead singers are a bunch of whiney emos. I don't care if you're singing about pain or some other bullshit, stop screaming in my goddamn ears! Metallica (regular metal) is fine, bands like Slipnot are shit. End of story.

I don't get it. Why is rap so bad? I guess it's all based on musical preferences, but people get really offended when you say that Rap isn't real music and neither is Hip Hop. The reason is because both are types of folk music. Folk music is music that is directed towards a specific community; in the case of rap, the black community. If you dislike rap and do not associate yourself with the community it represents, then that is, in fact, perfectly normal; actually, expected.

Personally, I really like rap even though I cannot identify nor feel like I am a part of the community it represents. It's just something about the sound...maybe I should be asking if I'm normal ;)

See the thing is a lot of modern rap isn't really rap. Rap began to die in the mid to late 90's. I am an avid rap listener but I do not listen to what today's people call rap. Not all rap is bad just modern mainstream rap.

I think that open mindedness is very important in that situation. I hope that you mean that rap, for lack of a better word, is crap. It seems to be a completely different situation when you talk about movies. You say "I don't really like scary movies" and no one minds, but if you were to say " scary movies suck!" you might get into an argument. But arguing music is nearly impossible, since people like the way music makes you FEEL, and everyone feels differently.
