Rapport with adolescents

There are many teens in my family and I'm not sure how to make a meaningful connection with them. When they were younger kids I had an ok relationship with them the few times a year I'd see them but the older they get the less I know how to talk to them. Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

Dont try to force it and be unnatural. If they have any common interests you can go there.

Give out 20 or 50 dollar bills. They'll love you, you'll be speaking their language.

Share with them adult subjects. Not going full blown sex bragging or drug fueled habits of anything.

They want to be treated like adults. So treat them more or less like adults. That's how you become the cool adult in their lives. Let's be honest a teen can sniff out a shill. So dont BS and just tell them a cool story or something.

It’s tough. Kids today have a totally different perspective. I know from talking to mr granddaughter. You have to get them to talk about what’s important for them.
