Religion is fear, fear is ignorance.

I have come to beleive after much consideration that most religions (including christianity, islamic, judaism ecy.) are simply a result of fear, and this fear is a result of years of passing down ignorance. Is it normal to beleive this?

Oh religion. The Internet battle begins lol.

Personally I agree it is somewhat a way of controlling people. Heck, half the people that are religious don't even fully understand their own religion and use it as a rightful way to spout "that's wrong because god said so".

Anyways, I don't consider myself an atheist. I simply have faith in myself, the earth, evolution and whatever else is out there. And I'm not going to act like a little book can tell me what it is that's out there or not.

I feel that way but I tend to let it go and not judge them for that. It works for a majority of people and if they are happy that way, then I have nothing wrong with it. I prefer to just face the truths and deal with not having something/someone to lean on when I'm going through the hard times

Religion is a bunch of people who are generally wonderful, nice, loving people that think were really dumb for dissagreeing with them. Where they really fail is they shove their beliefs in your face so much they get annoying.

I myself agree with you but I won't judge someone who's religious. Because that would be stooping to the very infatic religious mans childish level. That being said there are so many kind Christian families in America I can't hate religion. It does somthing for some people.
    This is definately normal.

How else would they get so many followers??

If a guy came up to you in the street and said: Do you want to waste hundreds of hours in your life being unproductive and worshipping a supreme being they would say no.

If that same guy told you if you don't you will burn in agony for all eternity, you may think twice.

However if there is a god, there have been millions of religions which all say each other one is wrong, so you have a higher chance of winning the lottery than picking the right one.

Also if there is a right one it will be an ancient one, not a new one like christianity.

There are thousands of religious around the world, Its seems you have a problem with Abrahamic religions.

Try studying 50 religions instead of just five and see if you feel the same way. Religions is not meant to be a scary thing, its meant for it to be a way for you to have a more open mind and a connection with your creator.

Also, don't cherry pick a few lines from each religion to understand it. Really study it, understand what the verses meant during the time when it was created, read multiple books about it and talk to people that practice it.

Otherwise you are just stereotyping millions of people by tiny snippets of information you have.

Go and watch "Religilous" by Bill Maher and then tell me that religion is not the most stupid thing man has ever believed in!! All religion does is give scared people something to follow and it causes war!!!

I urge you to read the Satanic Bible. Knowledge is a powerful thing. I agree with you about those fears and ignorance being passed down. I believe thats why humans cant evolve properly. Religions restrict our nature as humans and it limits our sciences with 'morals'. They certainly arent my morals or beliefs. They hold on to their superstitions even when the facts are presented. Its a sad thing really.

I agree with your point. But on the same hand the morals set up in religions are good for mankind to follow to an extent. Religions do cause wars but I feel they also outweigh those wars by creating so much good in the world. We just dwell on the wars because of what is happening in the Middle East presently. Basically religion is an outdated explanation of how man was created, but the morals are not outdated. Our sciences have proven that man was created differently than what religion creators stated, but the morals in the religions are still relevant to human traits and characteristics. We are NATURALLY built the same way as our ancestors thousands of years ago mentally.

I find comfort in religion. I find no comfort in my life, but it is comforting to know that when I die, or when the rapture occurs that I will be in front of God and see Jesus. I look forward to that day when I am finally called home to be with the Lord and get away from all this hate and disbelief in everyone. If you'd look past what happens in the end to start and study the Bible for what is really saying and the universal issues it addresses you will see the truths it speaks and that the end of your time on earth should be celebrated, Heaven will be a much better place. But while we a re on this earth as a Christian it is our duty to try and make the most out of it while we can and spread the word so that when your body on earth parishes, your life above begins.

I love how all athiests think they're philosophers and that their ideas are novel. Its the same old argument and the same close-mindedness that they accuse religious folks of having. Its the new euro-catholicism and if you're different then you will be shunned and trolled.

      Dear Wazup132
You base your religious beleifs on the fact that you "cant just not beleive in anything." Life is full of great things to beleive in. Also the way in which you choose to speak in all caps possibly hints at your ignorant views towards poeple who chose not to worship a "god". I beleive it is you who needs to learn to UNDERSTAND, as you would say.
